MARCH 03 SANTA CUNEGONDA

I. O glorious S. Cunegonda, who among the comforts of the court and the splendor of the throne only sought the mortification of your senses and the happiness of your subjects, obtain all of us the grace to always prefer the poverty of the world to the greatness of the world. Gospel, to the comfort of life, Christian penance, in order to build our neighbors in the act that we sanctify ourselves.

Glory to the Father to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

as it was in the beginning now and always for ever and ever.

II. O glorious s. Cunegonda, who on the first day of your wedding contracted with Henry the king of the Romans, with an irrevocable vow, consecrated to God, together with your spouse, the candid lily of your purity, obtain all of us the grace to greedily guard such a beautiful virtue, fleeing always from everything that could even slightly contaminate it.

Glory to the Father to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

as it was in the beginning now and always for ever and ever.

III. O glorious s. Cunegonda, who with heroic resignation offered the most reproachful tide of unfaithful and dissolute, when to discredit you, the demon walked several times in the form of a young man at your side; for that very lively faith with which without injury you walked barefoot over the fire to prove your innocence to the whole world, you obtain for us all the grace to always suffer in slander, satire, slander in peace, and to abandon ourselves entirely to protection of God whenever we find ourselves persecuted by the sinister judgments of men.

Glory to the Father to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

as it was in the beginning now and always for ever and ever.

IV. O glorious s. Cunegonda, who, having become Henry's widow, thought nothing more than to serve the king of the Virgins Jesus Christ with the greatest possible perfection to your immortal husband, therefore, having laid down his imperial clothes, you would lock yourself in a poor cell in the cloister you have manufactured and richly gifted, serving as a model for the most religious test tubes and putting your delight in prayer, labor and assistance to the sick, you all obtain the grace to always utter withdrawal at appearance, silence at tumult, contempt to honors, in order to arrive safely to perfection convenient to our state.

Glory to the Father to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

as it was in the beginning now and always for ever and ever.

V. O glorious s. Cunegonda, who with the simple sign of the cross extinguished the fire stuck to your bed on which the most burdensome illness nailed you, then with an unperturbed soul you went to the extreme step, commanding that your body be covered with poor cloths, you get all of us the grace to put all our confidence in the holy practices of religion, and to keep us always prepared for the great transition to another life, in order to participate with confidence in your joyful ones up in heaven, after having faithfully imitated your virtues on earth.

Glory to the Father to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

as it was in the beginning now and always for ever and ever.
