OCTOBER 03 SAN DIONIGI. Prayer to be recited today

Glory to You, or Dionysius, that the honors of the Areopagus left you for the folly of the Cross and for nascent Christianity brought the contribution of ingenuity and high social status. To this superb century, tell your example that Faith, far from being averse to science, invokes and elevates it and that it is fatal prejudice that which diverts the highest classes of society from Religion. Remember that we are part of that flock that the Apostle of the Gentiles entrusted to you, elevating them to Pastor of the Church and therefore you are the born patron of this City. To your patronage, made stronger by that of the Queen of Capocolonna, we entrust the fate of the native country whose greatness is unsurpassed by its religious faith. O Patron Saint, bless our fields and our sea, who is proposed to the public thing and all citizens without distinction. Bless our Bishop, your worthy successor, and the Clergy who help him in the difficult argument. Raise your father's hand to the bold youth that grows good and God-fearing, and, in your broad blessing, each one finds the secure pledge of his own salvation. So be it.
