MARCH 13 BLESSED LAMB FROM PISA

He was born in Pisa in about 1194 from the noble Agnelli family. He was a companion of Saint Francis of Assisi since 1212. In 1217 he was sent by the latter, together with Albert of Pisa, to France, as provincial. Later, in 1224, he was sent to Oxford in England to establish the new Franciscan province, of which Roberto Grossatesta led. He died in Oxford on March 13, 1235. Thomas of Eccleston narrates that the uncorrupted body of Lamb was preserved with great veneration in Oxford until the time of Henry VIII. His cult was confirmed by Leo XII on September 4, 1892.

PRAYER

O God, who have called the blessed Lamb

to detachment from oneself and to the service of brothers,

allow us to imitate him on earth

and to get with him

the crown of glory in the sky.

For our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who is God,

and live and reign with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

for all ages.
