AUGUST 16 SAN ROCCO. Prayer to be recited today

Glorious San Rocco, than for your generosity
in consecrating yourself to the service of the plague victims
and for your continuous prayers you saw the plague cease
and heal all infected by Acquapendente,
in Cesena, in Rome, in Piacenza, in Mompellier,
in all the cities of France and Italy traveled by you,
obtain all of us the grace to be through your intercession
constantly preserved by such a frightening and so bleak scourge;

but much more you get to be preserved from the spiritual plague

of the soul, which is precisely sin, to be able one day

be part of the glory up there in Heaven.
Glory.

Glorious San Rocco, who suffered from pestilential disease
in the act of serving other infected,
and placed by God to the test of the most frantic pains,
you asked and got to be placed along the road,
then from that driven out,
outside the city you were hospitalized in a poor hut,
where your wounds were healed by an Angel
and from a pitiful dog, restore your hunger,
bringing you every day a bread taken from the table of his master, Gottardo,
get all of us the grace to suffer
with unalterable resignation the infirmities, the tribulations,
all the misfortunes of this life,
always waiting for the necessary help from heaven.
Glory.
