SAINT PIO FROM PIETRELCINA
Pietrelcina, Benevento, 25 May 1887 - San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, 23 September 1968
San Pio da Pietrelcina (Francesco Forgione), priest of the Order of the Capuchin Friars Minor, who in the convent of San Giovanni Rotondo in Puglia worked hard in the spiritual direction of the faithful and in the reconciliation of penitents and had much provident care for the needy and the poor to conclude on this day his earthly pilgrimage fully configured to Christ crucified. PRAYER to obtain his intercession
O Jesus, full of grace and charity and victim for sins, who, driven by love for our souls, wanted to die on the cross, I humbly beg you to glorify, even on this earth, the servant of God, Saint Pius from Pietralcina who, in generous participation in your sufferings, loved you so much and lavished so much for the glory of your Father and for the good of souls. I therefore ask you to grant me, through his intercession, the grace (to expose), which I ardently desire.

Padre Pio, you lived in the century of pride and you were humble. Padre Pio you passed among us in the age of the riches dreamed, played and adored: and you remained poor. Padre Pio, next to you no one heard the voice: and you spoke with God; near you no one saw the light: and you saw God. Padre Pio, while we were running out of breath, you remained on your knees and you saw the love of God nailed to a wood, wounded in the hands, in the feet and in the heart: forever! Padre Pio, help us to cry before the cross, help us to believe in the face of Love, help us to hear the Mass as God's cry, help us to seek forgiveness as an embrace of peace, help us to be Christians with the wounds that shed the blood of charity faithful and silent: like the wounds of God! Amen
