3 tips on how to listen to the word of God

1. With respect. Any priest who preaches it is always the Word of God; and God considers the one addressed to his envoy as contempt; the Word of God is the sword of God in the hand of the priest, the voice of heaven, the source of life, the food of the soul, the means of health, even if the instrument or the priest who hands it to us is defective. Listen to it with the devotion with which you approach Holy Communion, says St. Augustine: take great account of it. Do you respect her? Don't you ever speak ill of it?

2. Seriously. It is a grace of God; whoever despises her will account for him; it is health food for those who care for it; it is food of death for those who laugh at it; but it never returns empty to the womb of God (Is. 55, 11). The preaching priest will stand trial against us, and his advice which we have not practiced will condemn us. If we had not known things, we would not have sinned. Think seriously about it, and fear your condemnation in preaching.

3. Willing to take advantage of it. Do not listen to curiosity, to taste eloquence, to know the ingenuity of others; not out of habit, out of obedience to the superior, to please a relative or friend; not already with distraction, criticizing what is heard, because it hurts and humiliates us; let's listen to it with the intent to practice what we hear, applying it to us, examining ourselves, repenting, proposing to amend ourselves with the help of God. Do you do it?

PRACTICE. - Always listen with respect, with seriousness and good will to the Word of God.
