3 brothers ordained priests on the same day, enthusiastic parents (PHOTO)

Three brothers were ordained priests in the same ceremony. Are Jessie, Jestonie e Jerson Avenue, three young people from the Philippines.

In times when many say that the priestly vocation is in crisis, Christ always manages to generate servants in surprising ways.

This is the case with the story of these three brothers, who received the sacrament of orders in the metropolitan cathedral of San Agustín, in the city of Cagayan de Oro, in the Philippines.

The ordination delighted theArchbishop José Araneta Cabantan, who had never ordained three brothers from the same congregation. The three brother priests, in fact, are members of the Congregation of the Sacred Stigma of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The father, who works as a farmer and security guard, and the mother, who works as a caregiver, say that “having priests in the family is a blessing. But three, it's something special ”.

Although they were ordained together, the path to the priesthood of each of the Avenido brothers was different. The eldest, Jessie, 30, entered seminary in 2008. Then Jestonie, 29, and finally Jerson, 28, in 2010.

Before entering the seminary, Jessie was studying electrical engineering, Jestonie wanted to be a teacher, and Jerson dreamed of becoming a doctor. But the Lord had other plans.

“We do not come from a family rich in money, but rich in love for the Lord and his Church,” said Father Jessie Avenido at the end of the ordination ceremony.
