5 excellent reasons to convert to Christianity

More than 30 years have passed since I converted to Christianity and gave my life to Christ, and I can tell you that Christian life is not an easy way, "feeling good". It doesn't come with a guaranteed benefit package to solve all your problems, at least not on this side of paradise. But I wouldn't trade it now for any other path. The benefits far outweigh the challenges. The only real reason to become a Christian, or as some say, to convert to Christianity, is because you believe with all your heart that God exists, that his Word - the Bible - is true and that Jesus Christ is what he says is: "I am the way, the truth and the life". (John 14: 6 NIV)

Becoming a Christian does not simplify your life. If you think so, I suggest you take a look at these common misconceptions about Christian life. Most likely, you will not experience sea separation miracles every day. Yet the Bible has several very convincing reasons for becoming a Christian. Here are five life-changing experiences that are worth considering as reasons for converting to Christianity.

Live the greatest of loves
There is no greater demonstration of devotion, nor greater sacrifice of love than to give one's life for another. John 10:11 says: "The greatest love has none of this, which has left life for its friends." (NIV) Christian faith is built on this type of love. Jesus gave his life for us: "God shows his love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us". (Romans 5: 8 NIV).

In Romans 8: 35-39 we see that once we experience the radical and unconditional love of Christ, nothing can separate us from it. And just as we freely receive the love of Christ, as his followers, we learn to love like him and spread this love to others.

Experience freedom
Similar to the knowledge of God's love, absolutely nothing is comparable to the freedom that a child of God experiences when he is freed from the heaviness, guilt and shame caused by sin. Romans 8: 2 says: "And since you belong to him, the power of the Spirit who gives life freed you from the power of sin that leads to death." (NLT) At the time of salvation, our sins are forgiven or "washed away". As we read the Word of God and allow his Holy Spirit to work in our hearts, we are increasingly freed from the power of sin.

And not only do we experience freedom through the forgiveness of sin and freedom from the power of sin over us, but we also begin to learn to forgive others. As we let go of anger, bitterness and resentment, the chains that have held us prisoners are broken through our own acts of forgiveness. In a nutshell, John 8:36 expresses it this way, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free." (NIV)

Experience lasting joy and peace
The freedom we experience in Christ gives birth to lasting joy and constant peace. 1 Peter 1: 8-9 says: “Even if you haven't seen it, you love it; and even if you do not see him now, believe in him and you are full of inexpressible and glorious joy, because you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls ". (NIV)

When we experience the love and forgiveness of God, Christ becomes the center of our joy. It does not seem possible, but even in the midst of great trials, the joy of the Lord boils deeply within us and his peace settles on us: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. " (Philippians 4: 7 NIV)

Relationship experience
God sent Jesus, his only Son, so that we could have a relationship with him. 1 John 4: 9 says: "This is how God showed his love among us: he sent his one and only Son into the world to be able to live through him." (NIV) God wants to connect with us in intimate friendship. It is always present in our lives, to comfort us, strengthen us, listen and teach. He speaks to us through his Word, leads us with his Spirit. Jesus wants to be our best friend.

Experience your true potential and purpose
We were created by God and for God. Ephesians 2:10 says: "Because we are the work of God, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance so that we could do it." (NIV) We were created for worship. Louie Giglio, in her book The Air I Breathe, writes: "Worship is the activity of the human soul". The deepest cry of our hearts is to know and worship God. As we develop our relationship with God, he transforms us through his Holy Spirit into the person we were created to be. And when we have changed through his Word, we begin to exercise and develop the gifts that God has placed in us.We discover our full potential and true spiritual realization, as we walk in the purposes and plans that God not only designed for us, but designed us for . No earthly result is comparable to this experience.
