During the pandemic we were forced to stay at home and we understood the value and importance of being able to travel and discover places where it is worth going at least once in a lifetime. Among these places there are at least 5 pilgrimage sites that are worth visiting.

One of the best known pilgrimages is certainly the one to Medjugorje, a town in Bosnia-Herzegovina that became a place of pilgrimage after the apparitions of Madonna in 1981. Although the Church has not yet officially commented on the apparitions, there are many faithful who have experienced a real one conversion in Medjugorje. There is an atmosphere here of solidarity and magic, with a very active community that takes care of pilgrims and people in difficulty.

Another well-known pilgrimage destination is Lourdes, where the Madonna appeared to the young woman for the first time in 1858 Bernadette Soubirous. Every year millions of pilgrims visit Lourdes, many of whom are sick people seeking it grace of healing. Mary's presence in Lourdes left a strong impression and the Church officially recognized her apparitions in 1862.

Speaking of pilgrimages of faith, we cannot forget Fatima. The apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in 1917 are among the most famous in the world. The place of the apparitions, called Cova da Iria, still attracts numerous faithful today. One of the best-known events related to Fatima is the “miracle of the sun", during which the sun seemed to move across the sky and the clothes of those present were miraculously dried by the rain.

In Italy, it is a much loved pilgrimage destination Loreto, where is the Holy House of the Virgin Mary. According to tradition, the angels they miraculously transported the house from the Holy Land to Loreto. The Loreto Sanctuary attracts numerous faithful, who feel attracted by the most human and hidden part of the lives of Mary, Joseph and Jesus.

Finally, we cannot forget the pilgrimage to Holy Landa, on the trail of Jesus' life. The places of Jesus' public life, such as Bethlehem, Capernaum and Jerusalem, have a great meaning for Christians, who wish to see and touch the reality of what is told in the Gospel.
