5 prayers to address to Jesus

Meditating on the light, on salvation, on the goodness and love of God is a propensity of heart and thought that we should have every day but much more in this period, the one in which Jesus was born, He who died on the cross for give us eternal life.

1. Love has come

Love came, safely guarded in a gentle womb, all the truth, majesty and creativity of a living God; poured into a small heart, making a silent entrance into a dark and uninviting shack.
Only one star shone again when a handful of people were brought in, led by angelic voices and open hearts. A young mother, a faith-filled father, men of wisdom who sought the truth and a group of humble shepherds. They came to bow down to a new life and acknowledge that the Savior had arrived; that the Word of God had come alive and that the extraordinary transformation of heaven and earth had begun.

2. A humble Christmas prayer

God, our Creator, we offer this humble prayer on Christmas day. We come to worship with a song of thanksgiving in our hearts. A song of redemption, a song of hope and renewal. We pray for joy in our hearts, we hope in our God, we love to forgive and peace on earth. We ask for the salvation of all our family and friends and we pray your blessings upon all people. May there be bread for the hungry, love for the unlovable, healing for the sick, protection for our children and wisdom for our young people. We pray for the forgiveness of sinners and for abundant life in Christ. Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with your love and power. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

3. Joy as our redeemer

Almighty God, grant that the new birth of your Son in the flesh redeem us from ancient slavery under the yoke of sin, so that we welcome him with joy as our Redeemer and, when he comes to judge, we can see Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reign with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

4. Moonless darkness lies somewhere in between

But the star of Bethlehem can lead me to the sight of the One who freed me from the I that I have been. Make me pure, Lord: you are holy; make me meek, Lord: you have been humble; now begins, and always, now begins, on Christmas day.

5. A prayer for Christmas Eve

Loving Father, help us remember the birth of Jesus, to be able to participate in the singing of the angels, in the joy of the shepherds and in the adoration of the magi. Close the door of hate and open the door of love to the whole world. Let kindness come with every gift and good wishes with every greeting. Deliver us from evil with the blessing that Christ brings and teach us to be happy with a clear heart. May Christmas morning make us happy to be your children, and Christmas evening take us to our beds with grateful, forgiving and forgiven thoughts, for the love of Jesus. Amen.
