5 promises made by Our Lady for those who make the Devotion to the Holy Face

The Most Holy Virgin approached the Sister and said to her:

“This scapular, or the medal that replaces it, is a pledge of love and mercy, which Jesus wants to give to the world, in these times of sensuality and hatred against God and the Church. ... Devilish networks are being stretched to tear faith from hearts. … A divine remedy is needed. And this remedy is the Holy Face of Jesus. All those who will wear a scapular like this, or a similar medal, and will be able, every Tuesday, to be able to visit the Holy Sacrament, in repair of the outrages, that received the Holy Face of mine. Son Jesus, during his passion and whom he receives every day in the Eucharistic Sacrament:

1 - They will be fortified in faith.
2 - They will be ready to defend it.
3 - They will have graces to overcome internal and external spiritual difficulties.
4 - They will be helped in the dangers of the soul and body.
5 - They will have a peaceful death under the gaze of my Divine Son.

Brief history of the Holy Face medal

The medal of the Holy Face of Jesus, also called the "miraculous medal of Jesus" is a gift from Mary Mother of God and our Mother. On the night of May 31, 1938, the Servant of God Mother Pierina De Micheli, nun of the Daughters of the Immaculate Conception of Buenos Aires, was in the chapel of her Institute in Milan in via Elba 18. While she was immersed in deep adoration before the tabernacle , a Lady of celestial beauty appeared to her in a blazing light: she was the Most Holy Virgin Mary.

She was holding a medal in her hand as a gift which on one side had the effigy of the face of Christ dead on the cross imprinted on it, circumscribed by the biblical words "Make the light of your face shine upon us, Lord." On the other side there appeared a radiant Host limited by the invocation "Stay with us, Lord".

The cult of the S.Volto medal had ecclesiastical approval on August 9, 1940 with the blessing of Blessed Card.Ildefonso Schuster, Benedictine monk, very devoted to the S.Volto di Gesù, then Archbishop of Milan. After overcoming many difficulties, the medal was coined and began its journey. The great apostle of the medal of the Holy Face of Jesus was the servant of God, Abbot Ildebrando Gregori, a Silvestrian Benedictine monk, since 1940 the spiritual father of the servant of God Mother Pierina De Micheli. He made the medal known by word and deed in Italy, America, Asia and Australia. It is now widespread all over the world and in 1968, with the blessing of the Holy Father, Paul VI, it was placed on the moon by American astronauts.

It is admirable that the blessed medal is received with reverence and devotion by Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants and even non-Christians. All those who have had the grace to receive and carry the sacred icon with faith, people in danger, the sick, prisoners, persecuted, prisoners of war, souls tormented by the spirit of evil, individuals and families distressed by all kinds of difficulties, have experienced above them a particular divine protection, they found serenity, self-confidence and faith in Christ the Redeemer. In the face of these daily wrought and witnessed wonders, we hear the whole truth of the Word of God, and the cry of the psalmist springs spontaneously from the heart:

"LORD, SHOW US YOUR FACE AND WE WILL BE SAVED" (Psalm 79)

Novena to the Holy Face

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit

1) Very sweet face of Jesus, who with infinite sweetness looked at the Shepherds in the cave of Bethlehem and the Holy Magi, who came to adore you, look sweetly also at my soul, who, prostrate before you, praises you and blesses you and answer her in the prayer she addresses you

Glory to the Father

2) Very sweet face of Jesus, who moved in the face of human misfortunes, wiped away the tears of the tribulations and healed the limbs of the grieved, looks with benignity on the miseries of my soul and the infirmities that pain me. For the tears you shed, fortify me in good, free me from evil and grant me what I ask of you.

Glory to the Father

3) Merciful face of Jesus, who, having come to this valley of tears, you were so softened by our misfortunes, to call you doctor of the sick and Good Shepherd of the misguided, do not allow Satan to win me, but always keep me under your gaze, with all the souls who comfort you.

Glory to the Father

4) Most holy face of Jesus, worthy only of praise and love, yet covered with slaps and spits in the most bitter tragedy of our redemption, turn to me with that merciful love, with which you looked at the good thief. Give me your light so that I understand the true wisdom of humility and charity.

Glory to the Father

5) Divine face of Jesus, who with his eyes wet with blood, with his lips sprinkled with gall, with his wounded forehead, with his bleeding cheeks, from the wood of the cross you sent the most precious groan of your insatiable thirst, he keeps that blessed thirst of me and all men and welcome my prayer today for this urgent need.

Glory to the Father
