5 verses from the Bible that will change your life if you believe it

We all have our favorite lines. Some of them love it because they are comforting. Others we may have memorized for that extra boost of trust or encouragement they provide when we really need it.

But here are five verses that I believe would absolutely change our lives - for the better - if we really believed them.

1. Matthew 10:37 - “Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. "

When it comes to the sayings of Jesus, that's what I wish it wasn't in the Bible. And I'm not alone in this. I have heard many young mothers ask me how they can love Jesus more than their son. And besides, how could God really expect it? Yet Jesus was not suggesting that we be negligent in our concern for others. Nor was he simply suggesting that we like him very much. He was commanding total loyalty. The Son of God who became our Savior demands and deserves to be the first place in our hearts.

I believe he is fulfilling the "first and greatest commandment" when he said this, and showing us what it looks like in our lives "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength "(Mark 12:30). If we really believed in Jesus when he said that we had to love him more than our parents and children - more than what is closest and dearest to our hearts - our lives would seem radically different in the way we honor Him, sacrifice for Him and show a daily love and devotion to him.

2. Romans 8: 28-29 - "All things work together for the good, for those who are called according to its purpose ..."

Here is one that we love to mention, especially the first part of the verse. But when we look at the whole verse, together with verse 29 - "For those he predicted he also predestined to conform to the image of his Son ..." (ESV) - we get the bigger picture of what God is doing in the vine of believers when we meet struggles. In the NASB translation, we discover that "God makes all things work together for the good" in order to make us more like Christ. When we truly believe that God is not only working, but causevent in our lives to conform to the character of Christ, we will no longer doubt, worry, be stressed, or become anxious when difficult times hit us. Instead, we will have the certainty that God is at work in every situation of our life to make us more like His Son and nothing - absolutely nothing - surprises him.

3. Galatians 2:20 - “I was crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life that I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me ”.

If you and I really considered ourselves crucified with Christ and our motto was "I don't live anymore, but Christ lives in me" we would be much less worried about our personal image or reputation and we would all be about him and his concerns. When we truly die for ourselves, we no longer care if we are respecting who we are and what we do. We would not be bothered by misunderstandings that put us in a bad light, situations that are to our disadvantage, circumstances that humiliate us, jobs that lie beneath us or rumors that are not true. Being crucified with Christ means that his name is my name. I can live knowing that he gave me his back because it's his back. This must be what Christ meant when he said: "Whoever loses his life for me will find it" (Matthew 16:25, NIV).

4. Philippians 4:13 - "I can do everything through Him who strengthens me". How we love this verse because it seems to be a song of victory for our ability to do anything. We perceive it as God wants me to prosper, so I can do everything. But in context, the apostle Paul was saying that he learned to live in any circumstance in which God placed him. “Because I learned to be satisfied in any circumstances. I can get along with humble means and I also know how to live in prosperity; in every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and hungry, both of having abundance and suffering. I can do everything through Him who strengthens me "(verses 11-13, NASB).

Are you wondering if you can live on your meager salary? God is calling you to a ministry and you don't know how to finance it? Are you wondering how you will persevere in your physical condition or in continuous diagnosis? This verse assures us that when we surrender to Christ, it will allow us to live in whatever circumstances he called us. The next time you start thinking that I just can't live like this, remember that you can also do all things (even endure your situation) through the One who gives you strength.

5. James 1: 2-4 - “Consider it pure joy ... every time you face trials of various kinds, because you know that testing your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its job so that you can be mature and complete, you will not miss anything. “One of the most difficult struggles for believers is to understand why we have to fight at all. Yet this verse contains a promise. Our tests and trials produce perseverance in us, which in turn translates into our maturity and completion. In NASB, we are told that resistance learned through suffering will make us "perfect and complete, devoid of anything." Isn't that what we stand for? To be perfect like Christ? Yet we cannot without your help. The Word of God clearly tells us that we can be perfected in Christ Jesus when we not only endure our difficult situations, but when we actually consider them joy. If you and I really believed it, we would be much happier than the things that keep us down. We would be happy, knowing that we were moving towards maturity and completion in Christ.

What do you think about it? Are you ready to really start believing these verses and living differently? The choice is yours.
