Gospel of March 1, 2023

Gospel of March 1, 2021, “Pope Francis”: But I wonder, are Jesus' words realistic? Is it really possible to love as God loves and be merciful like him? (…) It is evident that, compared to this love that has no measure, our love will always be in defect. But when Jesus asks us to be merciful like the Father, he doesn't think about quantity! He asks his disciples to become a sign, channels, witnesses of his mercy. (Pope Francis, General Audience 21 September 2016)

From the book of the prophet Daniel Dn 9,4b-10 Lord God, great and awesome, who are faithful to the covenant and kind to those who love you and keep your commandments, we have sinned and worked as wicked and ungodly, we have been rebellious, we have turned away from your commandments and your laws! We have not obeyed your servants, the prophets, who in your name spoke to our kings, our princes, our fathers and all the people of the land.

Justice is fitting for you, O Lord, for us shame on the face, as is still the case today for the men of Judah, for the inhabitants of Jerusalem and for all Israel, near and far, in all the countries where you scattered them for the crimes they have committed against you. Lord, shame on our faces to us, to our kings, to our princes, to our fathers, because we have sinned against you; to the Lord, our God, mercy and forgiveness, because we rebelled against him, we did not listen to the voice of Lord, our God, nor did he follow those laws which he had given us through his servants, the prophets.

Gospel of March 1, 2021: the writing of Saint Luke

From the Gospel according to Luke Lk 6,36-38 At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: «Be merciful, as your Father is merciful. Do not judge and you will not be judged; do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and it will be given to you: a good measure, pressed, filled and overflowing, will be poured into your womb, because with the measure with which you measure, it will be measured to you in return.
