Gospel of March 9, 2021

Gospel of March 9, 2021: asking for forgiveness is another thing, it is another thing than asking for forgiveness. I'm wrong? But, sorry, I was wrong ... I sinned! Nothing to do, one thing with the other. Sin is not a simple mistake. Sin is idolatry, it is worshiping the idol, the idol of pride, vanity, money, 'myself', well-being ... So many idols we have (Papa Francesco, Santa Marta, 10 March 2015).

From the book of the prophet Daniel Dn 3,25.34-43 In those days, Azariah got up and prayed this prayer in the midst of the fire and opening his mouth said: «Do not abandon us to the end,
for the love of your name,
do not break your covenant;
do not withdraw your mercy from us,
for the sake of Abraham, your friend,
of Isaac your servant of Israel your saint
you spoke to, promising to multiply
their lineage like the stars of the sky,
like the sand on the beach of the sea. Now instead, Lord,
we have become smaller
of any other nation,
today we are humiliated all over the earth
because of our sins.

The word of the Lord of March 9th

Now we no longer have a prince,
prophet neither chief nor holocaust
neither sacrifice, oblation nor incense
nor place to present the firstfruits
and find mercy. We could be welcomed with a contrite heart
and with the humiliated spirit,
like holocausts of rams and bulls,
like thousands of fatty lambs.
Such be our sacrifice before you today and please you,
because there is no disappointment for those who trust in you. Now we follow you with all our hearts,
we fear you and seek your face,
don't cover us with shame.
Do with us according to your clemency,
according to your great mercy.
Save us with your wonders,
give glory to your name, Lord ».

From the Gospel according to Matthew Mt 18,21-35 At that time, Peter approached Jesus and said to him: «Lord, if my brother commits sins against me, how many times will I have to forgive him? Up to seven times? ». And Jesus answered him: «I don't tell you up to seven, but up to seventy times seven. For this reason, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

Gospel of March 9, 2021: Jesus speaks to us through the Gospel

He had begun to settle accounts when he was introduced to a man who owed him ten thousand talents. Since he was unable to pay back, the master ordered that he be sold with his wife, children and all he possessed, and so paid off the debt. Then the servant, prostrate on the ground, begged him saying: "Have patience with me and I will give you everything back". The master had compassion of that servant, he let him go and forgave him the debt.

As soon as he left, that servant found one of his companions, who owed him a hundred denarii. She grabbed him by the neck and choked him, saying, "Give back what you owe!" His companion, prostrate on the ground, prayed to him saying: “Have patience with me and I will give you back”. But he did not want to, went and had him thrown in prison, until he had paid the debt. Seeing what was happening, his companions were very sorry and went to report to their master everything that had happened. Then the master summoned that man and said to him: “Wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Weren't you also supposed to have pity on your companion, just as I had pity on you? ”. Outraged, the master handed him over to the torturers, until he had repaid everything due. So also my heavenly Father will do with you if you do not forgive from your heart, each one to his own brother ».
