Padre Pio's words after the death of Pope Pius XII

On October 9, 1958, the whole world was mourning the death of Pope Pius XII. But Padre Pio, the stigmatized friar of San Giovanni Rotondo, had a different view of what happened after the pontiff's death. Sister Pascalina Lehnert, personal secretary of Pius XII, wrote a letter to San Giovanni Rotondo to find out what the friar from Pietralcina thought.

The friar's response could not have been more surprising. Padre Pio, with a face almost transfigured, said he had seen the Pope Pius XII in the Holy Mass, in Heaven. This vision was so clear and real to him that there was no doubt about the bliss of the pontiff's soul.

Although some may have found these words difficult to believe, the friar asked Padre Pio for confirmation, who with a heavenly smile confirmed that he had seen Pope Pius XII in the glory of Paradise. This testimony was noted in Diary of Father Agostino, confirming that the Lord had shown Padre Pio the beatitude of the late pontiff.

This testimony reminds us that faith goes beyond death and that, though we cannot see with our eyes, the eternal life and glory of XNUMX. Paradiso they are a tangible reality. The friar from Pietralcina taught us that the prayer is powerful and that God's presence is close to us, even in death. May we find comfort in knowing that righteous souls they are welcomed into the glory of Paradise, as Padre Pio saw with his spiritual eyes.
