13-year-old Christian kidnapped and forcefully converted to Islam, she returned home

At the hearing held the same day in the morning, the appeal presented by the family asked Arzoo Raja to be able to leave the Panah Gah government institute, where he lived, entrusted to social services, returning to live with his parents, after a year of reflection on his own life choices.

The judge spoke to Arzoo and his parents. Arzoo Raja, who was a 13-year-old Catholic girl at the time of the forced marriage, expressed her willingness to return to her parents. When asked about her conversion to Islam, she replied that she had converted "of her own free will".

For their part, the parents said that they welcomed their daughter with joy, made a commitment to take care of her and to do not put pressure on her on the subject of religious conversion.

Dilawar Bhatti, president of'Alliance of Christian peoples', present at the hearing, welcomed the court's decision. Speaking toFides Agency, said: “It is good news that Arzoo will return to live with his family and spend Christmas in peace. Many citizens, lawyers, social workers have raised their voices, are committed and have prayed for this case. We all thank God ”.

Meanwhile, Azhar Ali, the 44-year-old kidnapper of the Catholic girl, faces a trial under the Child Marriage Restriction Act of 2013, for violation of the law on early marriage.
