Saints Joachim and Saint Anna of the day for July 26th

(b. XNUMXst century)

History of Saints Joachim and Anna
In the scriptures, Matthew and Luke provide a legal family history of Jesus, tracing ancestors to demonstrate that Jesus is the culmination of great promises. Not only is his mother's family neglected, but we don't know anything real about them except that they existed. The names Joachim and Anne also come from a legendary source written more than a century after the death of Jesus.

The heroism and holiness of these people, however, are deduced from the whole family atmosphere around Mary in the Scriptures. Whether we rely on the legends of Mary's childhood or speculate from the information contained in the Bible, we see in her a fulfillment of many generations of people in prayer, herself imbued with the religious traditions of her people.

Mary's strong character in making decisions, her continued practice of prayer, her devotion to the laws of her faith, her steadfastness in times of crisis and her devotion to her relatives - all indicate a close-knit and loving family who watched forward to the next generation while retaining the best of the past.

Joachim and Anna, whether they are their real names or not, represent the entire silent series of generations who faithfully fulfill their duties, exercise their faith and create an atmosphere for the coming of the Messiah, but remain obscure.

Reflection
This is the "grandparents' day". Remind grandparents of their responsibility to set a tone for future generations - they must bring traditions to life and offer them as a promise to young children. But the party also has a message for the younger generation. Remind young people that the greater perspective, depth of experience, and appreciation of the deeper rhythms of life of the elderly are all part of a wisdom not to be taken lightly or ignored
