Fulfill our mission

"Now, Master, you can let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the eyes of all peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory for your people Israel. " Luke 2: 29-32

Today we celebrate the glorious event of Jesus presented in the Temple by Mary and Joseph. Simeone, a "just and devoted" man, had waited for this moment for his whole life. The passage above is what he talked about when the time finally came.

This is a profound affirmation that comes from a humble and full of faith heart. Simeone was saying something like this: “Lord of the heavens and the earth, my life is now complete. I saw it. I kept it. He is the only one. He is the Messiah. There is nothing more I need in life. My life is satisfied. Now I'm ready to die. My life has reached its goal and climax. "

Simeone, like any other ordinary human being, would have had many experiences in life. He would have had many ambitions and goals. Many things he worked hard for. So for him to say that he was now ready to "go in peace" simply means that the purpose of his life has been achieved and that everything he has worked for and fought for has reached its climax right now.

This says a lot! But it is indeed a great testimony for us in our daily life and gives us an example of what we should fight for. We see in this experience of Simeon that life must concern the encounter with Christ and the achievement of our purpose according to God's plan. For Simeon, that purpose, which had been revealed to him through the gift of his faith, was to receive the Christ Child in the temple at his presentation and then consecrate this Child to the Father in accordance with the law.

What is your mission and purpose in life? It will not be the same as Simeon but it will have similarities. God has a perfect plan for you that will reveal to you in faith. This calling and purpose will ultimately concern the fact that you receive Christ in the temple of your heart and then you praise and worship him so that everyone will see him. It will take a unique form in accordance with the will of God for your life. But it will be as significant and important as Simeon's call and will be an integral part of the entire divine plan of salvation for the world.

Reflect today on your call and mission in life. Don't miss your call. Don't miss your mission. Continue to listen, anticipate and act with faith as the plan develops so that one day you can rejoice and "go in peace" confident that this call has been fulfilled.

Lord, I am your servant. I'm looking for your will. Help me to answer you with faith and openness and help me say "Yes" to my life to achieve the purpose for which I was created. I thank you for Simeone's testimony and I pray that one day I too will rejoice that my life has been fulfilled. Jesus I believe in you.
