Other Christians massacred in Nigeria by Islamic extremists

At the end of last July the Islamic extremists Fulani they again attacked the Christian communities in Nigeria.

The attacks took place in the local government area of ​​Bassa, nel Plateau state, in central Nigeria. The Fulani have destroyed crops, set buildings on fire and indiscriminately shot people in Christian villages.

Edward Egbuka, state police commissioner, told reporters:

"Jebbu Miango it suffered attacks on Saturday evening 31 July, in which 5 people were killed and about 85 houses were burned down ”. But other villages have been targeted by Fulani extremists.

The senator Hezekia Dimka he declared al Daily Post (Nigerian national newspaper): "According to reports, more than 10 people were massacred, their homes and farmland looted."

A spokesperson for the Miango tribe, Davidson Mallison, explained to Open doors: “There were more than 500 people who set fire to the houses, from Zanwhra to Kpatenvie, in the district of Jebu Miango. They destroyed several agricultural lands. They took away the pets and belongings of the inhabitants. As I speak to you, the people of this community have fled ”.

And again: “One of our field contacts who lives in the town of Miango indicated that the situation was brought under control on Sunday 1 August, but with many losses among the indigenous (mainly Christians). Most of their houses were set on fire… Even the agricultural land with the crops was destroyed ”.

The violence then spread to the districts of Riyom and Barkin Ladi, also in the state of Plateau.

Neither Senator Dimka nor the state police commissioner made it clear who was responsible for the attacks. However, the national president of the Development Association, Ezekiel Bini, he told the newspaper The Punch: “The Fulani shepherds attacked our people again last night. This attack is particularly devastating ”.
