Guardian Angels: their particular task and the duties of man

The Prophet Zechariah had the following vision, which I note from the Bible.
- During the night I saw a man on a red horse and stood on the blueberries, which were in the valley; behind him stood other red and other white horses. I exclaimed: "What am I?" »
The Angel who spoke to me said: "I will show you that it is this."
Then the man standing among the blueberries replied: "These are the ones whom the Lord sent to walk the earth."
They said to the Angel of the Lord: "We have been around the earth and behold, every part of it is inhabited and is in peace."
The Angels are interested in men and earthly affairs, according to the various assignments received from God.
This part is the most interesting of the writing.

The companion of life.

Man for his body would be worth little or nothing; for the soul it is worth a lot before God. Human nature is weak, inclined to evil because of original guilt and must sustain continuous spiritual battles. God, in view of this, wanted to give a valid help to men, assigning to each one a particular Angel, who is called Guardian.
Speaking one day of the children, Jesus said: «Woe to anyone who scandalizes one of these little ones… because their Angels continually see the face of my Father who is in heaven! ».
As the child has the Angel, so does the adult.

Particular task.

The Lord God said in the Old Testament: "Here I will send my Angel, who will precede you and keep you on the way ... Respect him and listen to his voice, nor dare to despise him ... That if you listen to his voice, I will be close to the your enemies and I will strike whoever hits you. "
On these words of Sacred Scripture, the Holy Church has compiled the soul's prayer to its Guardian Angel:

«Angel of God, who are my Keeper, illuminate, guard, hold, govern me, who was entrusted to you by heavenly piety. Amen! ».

The task of the Guardian Angel is similar to that of the mother with her child. The mother is close to her little son; she does not lose sight of him; if she hears him cry, she immediately runs to the aid; if it falls, it raises it; etc…
As soon as a creature comes into this world, immediately an Angel of Heaven takes it under his care. As he reaches the use of reason and the soul is capable of doing good or evil, the Angel suggests good thoughts for practicing the law of God; if the soul sins, the Keeper makes remorse felt and inspires her to rise from guilt. The Angel collects the good works and prayers of the soul entrusted to him and presents everything to God with joy, because he sees that his mission is fruitful.

Duties of man.

First of all we must thank the good Lord for having given us such a noble companion in this life. Who thinks about this duty of gratitude? ... It is clear that men cannot appreciate the gift of God!
It is a duty to thank your Guardian Angel often. We say "thank you" to those who do us a little favor. How can we not say "thank you" to the most faithful friend of our soul, to the Guardian Angel? You must turn your thoughts to your Custos frequently and not treat them as strangers; ask him one morning and evening. The Guardian Angel does not speak to the ear materially, but makes his voice heard internally, in the heart and in the mind. So many good thoughts and feelings, which we have, perhaps we believe that they are our fruit, while it is precisely the Angel who works in our spirit.
- Listen to his voice! - says the Lord. - We must therefore correspond to the good inspirations that our Angel gives us.
- Respect your Angel - says God - and do not despise him. - It is therefore necessary to respect him, behaving with dignity in his presence. He who sins, being at that moment before the Angel, offends his presence and in some way despises him. Let souls think about it before sinning!… Would you commit a bad deed before your parents? ... Would you hold a scandalous speech in front of a very dignified person? ... Certainly not! ... And how do you have the courage to commit bad actions in the presence of your Guardian Angel? ... You force him, so to speak, to veil his face so as not to see you sin! ...
It is very useful, when tempted to sin, to remember the Angel. Temptations usually occur when alone and then evil is easily done. We are convinced that we are never alone; the Celestial Guardian is always with us.
