Artist creates sculpture with Padre Pio fighting the devil (PHOTO)

The Canadian artist Timothy schmalz he is considered a genius of modern sculpture.

He has already created several sacred-themed works of art and has also bought one from Papa Francesco.

This time, the Canadian gave another proof of talent by portraying Padre Pio of Pietrelcina fighting the devil.

It is not the first time that the sculptor is inspired by the Catholic saint. The work "Eu te absolvo" (I absolve you), which shows Padre Pio in the confessional, is located in Murberry Street, in New Yorkk, and attracts many tourists eager to talk to the saint.

Pope Francis gave the archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro the statue “Jesus without a home”, signed by the Canadian. The work is located in the Metropolitan Cathedral of São Sebastião, in Rio de Janeiro. The artist also has pieces placed in historic churches in Rome and the Vatican.

Padre Pio was born in Italy on May 25, 1887 and died in 1968. He became famous for various gifts, such as prolonged fasting, ecstasy, prophecies, perfume, bilocation, healings and miracles, as well as receiving stigmata of Christ. He also struggled with the demon's frequent attacks.
