Asti: in times of covid the Church helps families in difficulty

The covid emergency has seen many families in difficulty, there are those who have lost their jobs, there are those who rounded up with other parallel activities to make ends meet at the end of the month, there are those who worked "in black ”and received no help from the state. Among the most important actions are those led by bishop Luigi Testore "San Guido fund" in Asti in the Piedmont area, where 450 thousand euros have been allocated for the diocesan territory to support needy citizens. May just after the lockdown, where 1800 euro per family was paid and a first sustenance was possible as in paying back bills, and expenses for the purchase of basic necessities from food to personal hygiene, instead a sum was translated into € 50 vouchers to be able to source the opening of the school year in the purchase of pens, notebooks, books and teaching material Just go directly to the church where the "Caritas" counter in via Santa Teresa is on the front line.

Let's say a prayer for the poor in the world:

Lord teach us not to love ourselves,

not to love only our loved ones,

not to love only those who love us.

Teach us to think of others,

to love first of all those whom no one loves.

Grant us the grace to understand that at every moment,

while we live too happy a life,

there are millions of human beings,

who are also your children and our brothers,

who are dying of hunger

without having deserved to starve,

who die of cold

without having deserved to die of cold.

Lord, have mercy on all the poor of the world.

And don't allow anymore, oh Lord,

that we live happily alone.

Make us feel the anguish of universal misery,

and free us from our selfishness.

(Pope francesco)
