5-year-old boy raises nearly half a million dollars for the British health service

Inspired by 100-year-old Captain Tom Moore, Tony Hudgell is determined to show his gratitude to those who saved his life.
When Tony Hudgell was 41 days old, he suffered terrible abuse by his biological parents who ended up with life support and eventually his legs were amputated. Fortunately, the child had his prosthetic limbs mounted last year and is learning to walk with the help of crutches. So now the young Englishman is making his new mobility a good cause.

Inspired by the now centennial captain Tom Moore, who recently raised over 42 million dollars for the British health service by walking in his garden, Tony has set himself the challenge of walking a little more than 6 miles by the end of June. "He saw Captain Tom walk around with his frame in the garden and said 'I could do it'," shared his foster mom, Paula Hudgell, with the BBC.

He had hoped to raise £ 500 on his JustGiving page (about $ 637) for the Evelina London children's hospital which had helped save his life, but the boy managed to raise over $ 485.000.

Tony's challenges could have easily brought him back to life but thanks to inspiring figures, such as the future Captain Tom Moore, and his gratitude for those who helped him in his time of need, the schoolboy is proving himself to be an inspiration
