Why do you have to be a Christian? St. John tells us

Saint John helps us understand because you have to be a Christian. Jesus gave the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven ”to a person and a Church on Earth.

Question 1: Why is 1 John 5: 14-21 important?

Answer: First, it tells us to pray! “This is the trust we have in him: whatever we ask him according to his will, he listens to us.

Question 2: What good is it when He 'hears' our prayers and does not answer?

Answer: St. John promises that God will answer! “And if we know that he listens to us in what we ask him, we know we already have what we asked him”.

Question 3: We are sinners! Will God Answer Our Prayers?

Answer: John tells us: "If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not lead to death, pray, and God will give him life".

Question 4: Will God Forgive All Sin?

Answer: No! Only 'non-mortal' sins can be forgiven. “It is understood to those who commit a sin that does not lead to death: there is in fact a sin that leads to death; for this I say not to pray. 17 All iniquity is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death ”.

Question 5: What is 'mortal sin'?

Answer: Who voluntarily attacks the Perfect Divinity of the Most Holy Trinity.

Question 6: Who can be saved from sin?

Answer: John tells us that “We know that whoever is born of God does not sin: whoever is born of God preserves himself and the evil one does not touch him. 19 We know that we are of God, while the whole world lies under the power of the evil one ”.

Question 8: How can we escape that evil 'power' and take our souls to Heaven?

Answer: "We also know that the Son of God came and gave us the intelligence to know the true God. And we are in the true God and in his Son Jesus Christ: he is the true God and eternal life."
