Benedetta Rencurel, the visionary of Laus and the apparitions of Maria

THE SEER OF LAUS
In the small town of Saint Etienne, located in the Avance valley (Dauphiné - France), the visionary of Laus was born in 1647, Benedetta Rencurel.

Together with his parents, he lived in a state close to destitution. To live they had only a small piece of land and the work of their own hands. But they were fervent Christians and faith was their greatest wealth, consoling them in their poverty.

Benedetta spent her childhood in her poor hut and received all her education on her mother's lap, which was extremely simple. Feeling good and praying well to the Lord was all that the good woman could recommend to her Blessed. To pray she had only the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Creed to teach her. It was the Holy Virgin who then taught her the Litanies and a prayer to the Blessed Sacrament.

Benedetta could neither read nor write. She was seven when her father left her orphaned with two sisters, one of whom was older than her. The mother, stripped of the few possessions inherited from greedy creditors, was unable to study her daughters who were soon put to work. Benedetta was entrusted with a small flock.

But if the good girl ignored the rules of grammar, she nevertheless had a mind and heart full of religious truths. He attended the catechism assiduously, listened avidly to the sermons and his attention doubled especially when the parish priest spoke of the Madonna.

At twelve years old, obedient and resigned, she left her poor home to go to service, asking her mother for the only favor to buy her a rosary crown, knowing that she could only find consolation for her pains in prayer.

Commitment: Today I will recite the Litanies to Our Lady with calm and love.
