Child with hydrocephalus acts as a priest and recites Mass (VIDEO)

The little Brazilian Gabriel da Silveira Guimaraes, 3, went viral on social media when he appeared dressed as a priest and even celebrated a Mass.

The child was born with thehydrocephalus, an incurable disease that often causes learning problems and usually affects one in a thousand children.

Gabriel, on the other hand, had a normal development and had no consequences of the disease. According to the mother, Pâmela Rayelle Guimaraes, the doctor said he has "a miracle in his arms". He is his second child with Hugo de Melo Guimaraes.

"My pregnancy was normal and healthy," the mother recalled in an interview with ACI Digital. However, he revealed that when he completed 16 weeks of gestation, tests showed Gabriel had "hydrocephalus in 3 ventricles of the brain".

“I was immediately informed that hydrocephalus was very severe and took up almost the entire brain. Every month the news got worse, ”Pâmela recalled.

The mother said doctors believed the baby would live in a vegetative state if it survived birth. “It would have all been according to God's will and I would never have sentenced my son to death before he was even born,” she said.

Faced with this situation, Pamela and Hugo asked “the intercessors of Our Lady to pray for the life of Gabriel and thus a chain of prayer was created all over the world”.

The delivery was difficult because the baby had "a bigger head than normal" and was attached to the mother's pelvis. Gabriel "ended up without oxygen and swallowed a lot of liquid." The baby was then resuscitated by doctors and has since had normal development, contrary to the pessimistic predictions that parents heard during the pregnancy.

“If it hadn't been our faith that gave us strength in the face of doctors' judgments, everything would have been very traumatic”, the mother vented. “But, by the grace of God, we never despair or lose faith. We knew that even if he died, it would be God's purpose in our life and we would have to accept it, ”he added.
