Building the kingdom, meditation of the day

Kingdom Building: You are among those who will be taken away from kingdom of God? Or among those to whom it will be given to produce good fruit? This is an important question to be answered truthfully. "Therefore, I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit." Matthew 21:42

The first grouping of people, those from whom the Kingdom of God will be taken away, are represented in this parable by the tenants of the vineyard. It is clear that one of their gravest sins is greed. They are selfish. They see the vineyard as a place through which they can enrich themselves and care little for the good of others. Unfortunately, this mindset is easy to adopt in our lives. It is easy to see life as a series of opportunities to "move on". It is easy to approach life in a way where we constantly take care of ourselves rather than sincerely seeking the good of others.

The second group of people, those who will be given the Kingdom of God to produce good fruits, they are those who understand that the central purpose of life is not simply to get rich but to share God's love with others. These are the people who are constantly looking for ways they can be a real blessing for others. It is the difference between selfishness and generosity.

Building the kingdom: prayer

But generosity to which we are mainly called is to build the Kingdom of God. It is done through works of charity, but it must be a charity motivated by the Gospel and which has the Gospel as its ultimate goal. Caring for the needy, teaching, serving and the like are all good only when Christ is the motivation and the ultimate goal. Our life must make Jesus better known and loved, more understood and followed. Indeed, even if we were to feed a multitude of people in poverty, take care of those who were sick, or visit those who were alone, but we did so for reasons other than the final sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then our work does not produce the good. fruit of the building up of the Kingdom of Heaven. If so, we would only be philanthropists rather than missionaries of God's love.

Think, today, on the mission entrusted to you by our Lord to produce abundant good fruits for the building up of His Kingdom. Know that this can only be achieved by prayerfully seeking the way God inspires you to act. Try to serve only His will so that everything you do will be for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.

Prayer: My glorious King, I pray that Your Kingdom will grow and that many souls may know you as their Lord and God. Use me, dear Lord, for the building of that Kingdom and help all my actions in life to bear abundant and good fruit. Jesus I believe in you.
