Carlo's mother is keen to tell the last hours of life of his son to show how special and out of the ordinary this boy was.

In the early days of October 2016, Carlo was rushed to the hospital with the diagnosis of leukemia M3. The leukemia from which the boy was suffering was incurable and the cancer cells spread throughout the body in a very short time.

The last hours of Carlo Acutis

When the nurses were about to put the breathing helmet on him and asked him how he was feeling, Carlo surprised them with an answer worthy of his special being. With a smile he told him that he was fine and that there were people in the world who suffered much more than him. The nurses knew the great pain that this disease brought and were incredulous in the face of his strength and courage.

Carlo had a completely unnatural strength inside, that strength that came from his deep bond with the Lord. That deep relationship built day after day, that life lived under the protection and light of God.

The evening of 10 October Charles' condition worsened. Antonia had dozed off but the boy was unable to rest due to her strong pain. Despite everything he continued to worry about others and not for himself. In fact, he asked a nurse not to make any noise so as not to wake up her mother.

Antonia hadn't lost hope and once again she wished with all her heart to be able to bring her son home, even if she didn't forget the words that Carlo said to him as they headed to the hospital "Get ready, I'm not leaving here alive“. She wanted her to be ready for that moment and tried to prepare and reassure her. He would always watch over them and keep sending them signals.

Before going into a coma, she told her mother that she had a severe headache, but Antonia seeing him so serene thought it was normal given her condition. Moments later, she closed her eyes, never to open them again. He died because of acerebral hemorrhage.
