Unpublished catechesis of Father Amorth on Medjugorje

In the book "An army against evil", Amorth, among the most famous exorcists in the world, dissects the messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje, because "they are a massive work of catechesis" that guides us in a Christian way every day. And because in a world where Satan reigns "God has given us Mary as a last chance to save humanity".

The words of an interview released in 2014 are known to Father Amorth: «I am against these Bishops and priests who do not believe in Medjugorje, because I think so ... the Church speaks only when the facts are finished. But Medjugorje has lasted for 33 years. We have a law of the Church, which is the most important for us to distinguish extraordinary facts from facts that are not: the plant is known from the fruits. Now, 33 years ago Medjugorje has been giving exquisite fruits ». But in the book, just released, "An army against evil" (Rizzoli), one of the most famous exorcists in the world enters into the words that Our Lady repeats in Medjugorje, what he said were "a massive catechetical work to bring the men to God. " And it does so to guide the faithful in times of spiritual confusion also within the Church.

In fact, the volume collects the priest's monthly catecheses on the Marian messages revealed through the visionary Marija every 25th of the month. Catechesis accompanied by Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, which took place in front of thousands of people in the Roman parish of San Camillo de Lellis. What emerges from these texts is truly the power of prayer, which humanity has not yet understood, so it is up to Our Lady to repeat continuously, as only a mother can do: "Pray, pray, pray". Father Amorth repeated that "whoever prays the Rosary every day is saved", because the Rosary "is the most powerful of all destructive weapons". From the catecheses it then emerges that the priest could not have become what he is without this close link with the apparitions of Our Lady of Medjugorje (invoked in his exorcisms) for him of paramount importance for the salvation not of some but of all humanity: « Medjugorje is the most important of the apparitions, the fulfillment of Fatima and Lourdes ».

In fact, according to the exorcist, "the relationship between Fatima and Medjugorje is very close", because after the messages in Portugal "a new push was indispensable ... the message points, as in Fatima, to the return to Christian life, to prayer, to fasting ... an outpost in the fight against the devil ». In fact, he added that there "countless conversions, healings and liberations from the evil ones and I have many testimonies". In his catecheses, however, Amorth never forgot to remember, together with Our Lady, that "if you are not humble, if you are not willing to welcome God into our hearts, even an apparition does not change your life".

But what does it mean to change your life? And don't abandon the road suggested by Mary to Medjugorje, as many do after an initial enthusiasm ("Many got lost on this road" message 25/10/2007)? Being light in a fierce and diabolical world: "Where you blaspheme you pray and offer God reparations for reparation," explained the priest. «Where you speak badly you don't accept bad speeches. You may be criticized ", but" the important thing is to please God. It often happens that the seed bears fruit ". But even for this reason it is necessary to pray: "Satan is only afraid of prayer and in particular fears the Rosary", as Sister Lucia of Fatima said: "There is no difficulty in the world that cannot be overcome with the recitation of the Rosary" even if " prayer requires commitment ... it is a struggle ... at the beginning an effort of will is necessary ... but then this commitment becomes joy ». Just pray with faith. The faith that according to Father Amorth has also been lost in the Church precisely because of the lack of prayer: "Faith is a gift of God", but "which can be lost, which must be nourished with prayer".

These splendid catecheses of the exorcist also teach how to pray, when and where. Explaining the importance of reading the Gospel and how to transform life in its light, with very concrete advice. In the same way he speaks of silence, of Eucharistic adoration, of fasting. Described with illuminating simplicity and depth. Furthermore, Amorth makes it clear how the devil acts in daily life, helping the reader to regain consciousness of sin, listing the evils that modern man quietly performs every moment without realizing the gravity of his actions.

But these catecheses, in addition to going to the heart of faith, have the merit of deeply examining the messages of the Madonna, responding to the objection of those who, stopping at a superficial reading, comment that "this Madonna always says the same things". On the other hand, Mary's journey can profoundly change those who undertake it, even transforming life: just one message and one catechesis a day is enough to be guided in a Christian way every day. Knowing that, as Father Amorth said, "God has given us Mary as a last chance to save humanity."
