Who came from beyond? The death of a prostitute

In Rome, in 1873, a few days before the feast of the Assumption, in one of those houses, called tolerance, it happened that one of those unfortunate young people was wounded in the hand, the evil, which at first was considered light, unexpectedly aggravated so much that the poor woman, transported to the hospital, died in the night.

At the same time one of her companions, who could not know what was happening in the hospital, began to cry out desperately, so that she woke up the inhabitants of the neighborhood, putting dismay among those miserable tenants and causing the intervention of the police headquarters.

The companion who died in the hospital had appeared to her, surrounded by flames, and had said to her: I am damned and if you do not want to be, immediately leave this place of infamy and return to God!

Nothing could calm the agitation of this young woman, who, as soon as dawn broke, left, leaving the whole house in amazement, especially when it was heard of the death of her companion in the hospital.

This being the case, the mistress of the infamous place, who was an exalted Garibaldian, fell seriously ill and, thinking of the appearance of the damned, converted and wanted a priest to receive the Holy Sacraments.

The ecclesiastical authority appoints a worthy priest, Monsignor Sirolli, parish priest of San Salvatore in Lauro, who asked the sick, in the presence of several witnesses, the retraction of his blasphemies against the Supreme Pontiff and the declaration to cease from the infamous industry who exercised. The woman died with Religious Comfort.

All of Rome soon knew the details of this fact. The bad guys, as always, made fun of what had happened; the good instead took advantage of it to become better.
