How to deal with the chain messages we receive?

What about the "chain messages" forwarded or sent saying it goes to 12 or 15 people or so, then you will receive a miracle. If you don't pass it on, will something happen to you? How to explain? Thank you.

If you spend time with email or social media, you will most likely come across emails or posts promising you if you pass them on. For example, there may be a special prayer sent to you with the attachment below, "pass this on to twelve friends and you will receive your prayer answer within twelve days."

So is it legitimate? No it is not. It is superstition. However, having said that, it is worth making a clarification. But first let's take a look at the superstitious part.

God doesn't make His grace and mercy depend on you when you email many friends. Perhaps the included prayer is quite nice and worth praying for. However, the effect of that prayer is not up to you following the instructions in an email. Only Christ and his church have the authority to attribute grace to prayers. The Church does this through indulgences. So, if you get one of these emails, it might be best to pass on the prayer part but remove the promise or warning.

As for the clarification mentioned above, there have been some private revelations given to the mystics who have attached certain promises to certain prayers. Those private revelations and promises must always be evaluated by the Church. If approved, we can trust that God is offering special grace through those prayers. But the key is that we seek the guidance of our Church on all private revelations.
