How to create your magic oils

Our ancestors used oils for ceremonies and rituals hundreds and even thousands of years ago. Since many essential oils are still available, we can continue to create our blends today. In the past, oils were created by placing oil or fat on a heat source and then adding fragrant herbs and flowers to the oil. Many companies today offer synthetic oils at a fraction of the cost of essential oils (essential oils are those actually extracted from a plant). However, for magical purposes it is better to use authentic and essential oils: these contain the magical properties of the plant, which synthetic oils do not have.

A story of magical oils

The author Sandra Kynes, who wrote Mixing Essential Oils for Magic, says that “Aromatic plants in the form of oil and incense were elements of religious and therapeutic practices in early cultures around the world. Furthermore, anointing with perfumes and scented oils was an almost universal practice. "

In some popular magical traditions, such as Hoodoo, oils can be used both to anoint people and objects, such as candles. In some magical systems, such as various forms of Hoodoo, oils are also used to flavor candles to anoint the skin, so many oils are mixed safely for the skin. In this way, they can be used to dress candles and pendants, but they can also be worn on your body.

How to create your blends
While many commercial vendors would like you to believe that there is a super secret magical method of mixing oils, it is actually quite simple. First, determine your intent - whether you are creating a money oil to bring you prosperity, a love oil to increase your romantic encounters or a ritual oil for ceremonies.

Once you have determined your intent, assemble the essential oils required in the recipes. In a clean container, add 1/8 cup of your base oil - this should be one of the following:

safflower
Grape seeds
jojoba
GIRASOLE
Almond
Using a dropper, add essential oils to the recipes. Make sure you follow the recommended proportions. To mix, do not mix ... shake. Spin the essential oils in the base oil by turning clockwise. Finally, consecrate your oils if your tradition requires it - and not everyone does. Make sure to store oil mixes in a place away from heat and moisture. Store them in dark-colored glass bottles and be sure to label them for use. Write the date on the label and use it within six months.

There are several ways you can use your oils in a ritual setting. They are often rubbed on candles for use in spells: this blends the powerful energies of the oil with the magical symbolism of the color of the candle and the energy of the flame itself.

Sometimes oils are used to anoint the body. If you are mixing an oil to use for this purpose, make sure you don't include any ingredients that are irritating to the skin. Some essential oils, such as frankincense and cloves, will cause a reaction in sensitive skin and should only be used sparingly and diluted heavily before use. The oils applied to the body bring the energies of the oil to the wearer: an energy oil will give you a much needed boost, an oil of courage will give you strength in the face of adversity.

Finally, crystals, amulets, talismans and other pendants can be greased with the magic oil of your choice. This is a great way to turn a simple trivial object into an object of magical power and energy.
