How to overcome worry by trusting God

Dear sister,

I worry a lot. I worry about myself and my family. People sometimes tell me that I worry too much. I can not do anything about it.

As a child, I was trained to be responsible and was held accountable by my parents. Now that I'm married, have a husband and my children, my worries have increased - like so many others, our finances are often no longer enough to cover everything we need.

When I pray, I tell God that I love him and that I know he is taking care of us, and that I trust him, but that never seems to take my worry away. Is there anything you know that could help me with this?

Dear friend

First of all, thank you for your sincere question. I have often thought about it too. Is worrying about something inherited, like from genes, or learned from the environment we grew up in, or what? Over the years, I have found that worrying is okay in small doses, from time to time, but by no means useful as a constant companion for the long haul.

Constant concern is like a small worm inside an apple. You can't see the worm; you only see the apple. Still, it is in there that it is ravaging the sweet and delicious pulp. It makes the apple rotten, and if it is not cured by eliminating it, it continues to eat away all the apples in the same barrel, doesn't it?

I would like to share with you a quote that helped me. It comes from the Christian evangelist, Corrie Ten Boom. He helped me personally. He writes: “Worry does not empty tomorrow from its pain. Drain its strength today. "

I would also like to share a letter from our mother Luisita, founder of our community. I hope and pray that he will help you as he has helped many other people. Mother Luisita is not a person who has written much. He did not write books and articles. He only wrote letters and had to be coded, due to religious persecution in Mexico in the early part of the 20th century. The following letter has been decoded. May it bring you peace and topics to reflect and pray on.

At that time, Mother Luisita wrote the following.

Trusting in God's providence
A letter from Mother Luisita (decoded)

My beloved child,

How good is our God, always watch over His children!

We should rest entirely in his hands, understanding that his eyes are always on us, that he will make sure that we don't miss anything and give us everything we need, if it is for our own good. Let Our Lord do what He wants with you. Let it shape your soul in any way it likes. Try to be at peace in your soul, freeing yourself from fear and worry and letting yourself be guided by your spiritual director.

With all my heart, I pray for this intention for you that God will grant your soul many blessings. This is my greatest wish for you - that these blessings, like precious rain, will help the seeds of those virtues most pleasing to God our Lord to germinate in your soul, beautifying it with virtue. Let's get rid of those tinsel-like virtues that sparkle but at least fall apart. Our holy Mother Saint Teresa taught us to be strong like oaks, not like straw that is always knocked down by the wind. I have the same concern for your soul as I do for mine (I think I say too much), but it is a reality - I am deeply concerned about you in an extraordinary way.

My child, try to see all things as coming from God. Receive all that happens with serenity. Humble yourself, asking him to do everything for you and to continue working calmly for the good of your soul, which is the most urgent thing for you. Look to God, your soul and eternity, and everything else, don't worry.

For bigger things you were born.

God will provide for all our needs. We trust that we will receive everything from the One who loves us so much and always watches over us!

As you try to see all things as coming from the hand of God, worship His designs. I'd like to see you have more confidence in Divine Providence. Otherwise, you will suffer many disappointments and your plans will fail. Trust me, my daughter, only in God. All that is human is changeable and what is for you today will be against you tomorrow. See how good our God is! We should have more faith in Him every day and resort to prayer, not allowing anything to discourage us or make us sad. It has given me so much confidence in his Divine Will that I leave everything in his hands and I am at peace.

My beloved daughter, we praise God in everything because everything that happens is for our good. Try to fulfill your duties as best you can and for God alone and always remain happy and peaceful in all the tribulations of life. As for me, I put everything in God's hands and I was successful. We must learn to detach ourselves a little, trust in God alone and do God's holy will with joy. How beautiful it is to be in God's hands, seeking his divine gaze ready to do whatever he wishes.

Goodbye, my child, and receive a loving hug from your mother who wishes to see you.
