Coronavirus: devotion to hope and healing at Covid

Prayers for healing and hope (COVID-19)

During this Coronavirus pandemic, many are tempted by fear, anxiety and perhaps even despair. Some have lost their precious lives, others have lost those they love, others have suffered from the debilitating effects of this disease, others have lost their jobs, income and most have experienced an interruption in the normal flow of their daily lives.

Every crisis of life is also an opportunity to turn to our beloved Savior in trust and complete abandonment to rest in his merciful hands. Resting in the hands of God means that we are safe, despite the uncertainty of life. It means that we are free to love God and others, despite the challenges we face. It means that we raise our eyes to heaven, rather than looking down in fear.

A prayer to combat the coronavirus pandemic *

Merciful and triune God,
We come to you in our weakness.
We come to you in our fear.
We come to you with confidence.
Only for you are our hope.

We put before you the disease present in our world.
We turn to you in times of need.

Bring wisdom to doctors.
Give understanding to scientists.
Provide carers with compassion and generosity.
Bring healing to those who are sick.
Protect those who are most at risk.
Give comfort to those who have lost a loved one.
Receive those who died in your eternal home.

Stabilize our communities.
Join us in our compassion.
Remove all fear from our hearts.
Fill us with confidence in your care.

(mention your particular concerns and prayers now)

Jesus I believe in you.
Jesus I believe in you.
Jesus I believe in you.

Amen.
