What does the Quran say about charity?

Islam invites its followers to get in touch with open hands and give to charity as a way of life. In the Qur'an, charity is often mentioned along with prayer, as one of the factors that identify true believers. In addition, the Qur'an often uses the words "regular charity", so charity is best as a continuous and consistent activity, not just one-off here and there for a special cause. Charity should be part of the very fiber of your Muslim personality.

Charity in the Koran
Charity is mentioned dozens of times in the Koran. The following passages are only from the second chapter, Sura Al-Baqarah.

"Stand firm in prayer, practice regular charity and bow with those who bow (in adoration)" (2:43).
“Worship anyone except Allah. Treat your parents and relatives with kindness, and orphans and the needy; talk to people fairly; stand firm in prayer; and practice regular charity "(2:83).
“Be firm in prayer and regular in charity. Whatever good you send for your souls before you, you will find it with Allah. For Allah sees all you do well "(2: 110).
“They ask you what they should spend on charity. Say: Whatever you spend that is good, it is for parents and relatives and orphans and for those in need and for travelers. And whatever you do that is good, Allah knows it well "(2: 215).
"Charity is for those in need, who, in the cause of Allah, are limited (by travel) and cannot move around the earth, seeking (for trade or work)" (2: 273).
"Those who in charity spend their possessions night and day, secretly and in public, have their reward with their Lord: there will be no fear on them, nor will they afflict themselves" (2: 274).
“Allah will deprive usury of all blessings, but increase charity actions. For he does not love ungrateful and evil creatures "(2: 276).
“Those who believe and perform righteous actions and establish regular prayers and regular charity will have their reward with their Lord. There will be no fear over them, nor will they afflict themselves "(2: 277).
“If the debtor is in trouble, give him time until it is easy for him to pay him back. But if you forgive it for charity, it is better for you if you only knew it "(2: 280).
The Quran also reminds us that we should be humble about our charity offers, not embarrass or hurt the recipients.

“Kind words and guilt coverage are better than charity followed by an injury. Allah is free from all desires and is the most tolerant "(2: 263).
"O you who believe! Do not erase your charity from the memories of your generosity or from the wounds, such as those who spend their substance to be seen by men, but do not believe in Allah or on the Last Day (2: 264).
“If you reveal acts of charity, even so it is fine, but if you hide them and make them reach those really in need, it is better for you. It will take away some of your (spots of) evil "(2: 271).
