What Pope Francis says about thanksgiving

A quote from Pope Francis:

“Being able to offer thanks, being able to praise the Lord for what he has done for us: this is important! So we can ask ourselves: are we able to say 'thank you'? How many times do we say 'thank you' in our family, in our community and in the church? How many times do we say "thank you" to those who help us, to those close to us, to those who accompany us in life? We often take everything for granted! This also happens with God. It is easy to approach the Lord to ask for something, but to come back and thank ... "

Prayer of praise and thanksgiving

of St. Francis of Assisi

Almighty, most holy, highest, highest God, holy and just Father, Lord King of heaven and earth, we thank you for the very fact that you exist, and also because with a gesture of your will, for your only Son and in the Holy Spirit, you created all visible and invisible things and we, made in your image and likeness, had intended to live happily in a paradise from which they were solely driven by our fault.

And we give you thanks, because, as for your Son you created us, so because of the true and holy love with which you loved us, you gave birth to the same true God and true man from the glorious ever virgin most blessed Saint Mary and you wanted that through the cross, the blood and the death of him we were freed from the slavery of sin.

And we thank you, because your Son himself will return in the glory of his majesty, to send the wicked who did not do penance and did not want to know your love into the eternal fire and to tell those who knew you, adored, served and repented of their sins.

Come blessed of my Father: come into possession of the kingdom which has been prepared for you since the creation of the world! (Mt. 25, 34).

And since we, miserable and sinners, are not even worthy of mentioning you, we pray and beg you, because our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son you love and who is always and in everything enough for you, for whom you have granted us things so great, together with the Holy Spirit Paraclete, give you thanks for everything in a way worthy and pleasing to you.

And humbly we pray in the name of your love to the blessed Mary always virgin, the blessed Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and all the angels, the blessed John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, Peter and Paul, the blessed patriarchs, prophets, innocents, apostles, evangelists, disciples, martyrs, confessors, virgins, the blessed Elijah and Enoch, and all the saints who were, who are and who will be, so that, as they can do, give thanks to you, for all the good you have done to us, or supreme God, eternal and alive, with your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ and with the Paraclete Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
