What to do to prevent the devil from leading us into temptation

Il devil always tries. Reason why theapostle Saint Paul, in its letter to the Ephesians, he says that the battle is not against the enemies of flesh and blood but against "the rulers of the world of darkness, against the evil spirits who live in space".

In an interview given a few years ago to the National Catholic Register, father Vincent Lampert, exorcist of the archdiocese of Indianapolis, he gave three tips to protect yourself from the snares of the devil.

DO THE BASIC THINGS

Father Lampert said that when people ask him for help against the demon's attacks, he suggests doing the "basics". "If they are Catholics, I tell them to pray, to confess and to attend Mass".

The exorcist commented that people often view these things as routine acts and argue that they are not effective.

“They look at me like I'm crazy. But if I told them to grab a cat by the tail and turn its head at midnight, they would. People think they have to do something extraordinary, but in reality the most ordinary things are those that give protection ”.

"If a Catholic prays, goes to Mass and receives the Sacraments, the devil runs away," he stressed.

POWER IS IN FAITH NOT IN OBJECTS

The exorcist explained that the Crucifix, the medals, theHoly water and other Catholic sacramentals have protective power but what makes them truly powerful is faith, not the object itself. "Without it, they can't do much," he said.

Likewise, the priest warned of the use of 'amulets'. He recalled that a driver told him that his image of a Guardian angel it would protect him. He replied: “No, this piece of metal will not protect you. It just reminds you that God sends angels to protect you ”.

Father Lampert recalled the Gospel account of Jesus who went to Nazareth, his hometown, and was unable to perform miracles because the people had no faith.

However, other people were healed because they had it. An example is the bleeding woman who thought that only by touching Christ's mantle would she be healed. And so it happened.
