What Jesus Christ taught about prayer

Jesus taught in prayer: If you are looking to increase your understanding of what the Bible says about prayer, there is no better place to start than by analyzing Jesus' teaching on prayer in the gospels.

Normally, this blog explains and applies the scriptures to help you grow in Christ, but my challenge to the readers of this post is to immerse yourself in the words of our Savior and let them lead you to prayer.

Jesus' teaching on prayer. Complete list of Bible verses in the Gospels

Matthew 5: 44–4 But I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 6: 5-15 “And when you pray, you don't have to be like the hypocrites. Because they love to stand and pray in synagogues and on street corners, so that they can be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

“And when you pray, do not pile up empty phrases like Gentiles do, as they think they will be heard for their many words. Don't be like them, because your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Then pray like this:
“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread and forgive our debts, as we have also forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Because if you forgive others for their faults, your heavenly Father will forgive you too, but if you do not forgive others for their faults, not even your Father will forgive your trespasses.

Jesus taught in prayer: Matthew 7: 7-11 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. Because whoever asks receives, and whoever seeks finds, and to whoever knocks it will be opened. Or which of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a snake? So if you, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! Matthew 15: 8-9 ; Mark 7: 6–7 This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; in vain do they adore me, teaching the commandments of men as doctrines.

Matthew 18: 19-20 Again I tell you, if two of you agree on earth on whatever they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am among them. Matthew 21:13 It is written: 'My house will be called a house of prayer', but you make it a den of robbers. Matthew 21: 21-22 Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain: thrown into the sea, 'it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.

Prayer what the Gospel says

Jesus taught in prayer: Matthew 24:20 Pray your escape doesn't happen in winter or on a Saturday. Mark 11: 23-26 Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Get up and cast into the sea, and he does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. So I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe you have received it and it will be yours. And every time you are praying, forgive, if you have something against someone, so that your Father who is in heaven can also forgive you for your trespasses.

Mark 12: 38-40 Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long dresses and greetings in the markets and have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor during the holidays, who devour widows' houses and make long prayers for fiction. They will receive the greatest sentence. Mark 13:33 Be on your guard, stay awake. Because you don't know when the time will come. Luke 6:46 Why do you call me "Lord, Lord" and don't do what I tell you?

Luke 10: 2 The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore pray fervently to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest Luke 11: 1–13 Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples." And he said to them, “When you pray, say, 'Father, let your name be sanctified. Come your kingdom. Give us our daily bread every day and forgive our sins, because we ourselves forgive all those who are in debt to us. And don't lead us into temptation.
