What happens to a Christian after death?

Don't cry for the cocoon, because the butterfly has flown. This is the feeling when a Christian dies. While we are saddened by the loss of the death of a Christian, we also rejoice that the loved one has entered heaven. Our mourning for the Christian is mixed with hope and joy.

The Bible tells us what happens when a Christian dies
When a Christian dies, the soul of the person is transported to heaven to be with Christ. The apostle Paul spoke about it in 2 Corinthians 5: 1-8:

Because we know that when this earthly tent in which we live is torn down (i.e. when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We get tired of our current bodies and we crave to wear our heavenly bodies as new clothes ... we want to wear our new bodies so that these dying bodies are swallowed up by life ... we have known this for a long time since we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Sir. Because we live by believing and not seeing. Yes, we are fully confident and would prefer to be away from these earthly bodies, because then we will be at home with the Lord. (NLT)
Speaking again to the Christians in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, Paul said: "... we want you to know what will happen to believers who have died, so you will not afflict yourself as people who have no hope" (NLT).

Swallowed by life
Because of Jesus Christ who died and was raised, when a Christian dies, we can suffer with the hope of eternal life. We can suffer knowing that our loved ones have been "swallowed up by life" in heaven.

American evangelist and pastor Dwight L. Moody (1837-1899) once said to his congregation:

“One day you will read in the newspapers that DL Moody of East Northfield is dead. Don't even believe a word! In that moment I will be more alive than it is now. "
When a Christian dies, he is welcomed by God. Shortly before Stephen's lapidary death in Acts 7, he looked up to heaven and saw Jesus Christ with God the Father, waiting for him: “Look, I see the heavens open and the Son of man standing in the place of honor at the right hand of God! " (Acts 7: 55-56, NLT)

Joy in the presence of God
If you are a believer, your last day here will be your birthday in eternity.

Jesus told us that there is joy in heaven when a soul is saved: "Likewise, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God when even one sinner repents" (Luke 15:10, NLT).

If heaven rejoices in your conversion, how much more will your coronation celebrate?

Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. (Psalm 116: 15, NIV)
Zephaniah 3:17 declares:

The Lord your God is with you, the mighty warrior who saves. He will delight with you; in his love he will no longer scold you, but he will rejoice in you with singing. (NIV)
The God who delights in us very much, rejoicing in us for singing, will surely greet us at the finish as we complete our race here on earth. His angels and perhaps other believers we have known will also be there to join in the celebration.

On earth friends and relatives will suffer from the loss of our presence, while in heaven there will be great joy!

Church of England pastor Charles Kingsley (1819-1875) said: “It is not darkness you will go, because God is light. He is not alone, because Christ is with you. It is not an unknown country, because Christ is there. "

The eternal love of God
The scriptures do not give us a picture of an indifferent and detached God. No, in the story of the prodigal son, we see a compassionate father running to embrace his son, delighted that the young man has returned home (Luke 15: 11-32).

"... He is simply and completely our friend, our father - our more than friend, father and mother - our infinite God, perfect for love ... He is delicate beyond all that human tenderness can conceive of husband or wife, familiar beyond all that the human heart can conceive of father or mother ". - Scottish Minister George MacDonald (1824-1905)
Christian death is our return home from God; our bond of love will never be broken for eternity.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from the love of God. Neither death nor life, nor angels nor demons, nor our fears for today nor our worries for tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from love of God. No power in heaven above or in earth below - in truth, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8: 38-39, NLT)
When the sun sets for us on earth, the sun will rise for us in heaven.

Death is only the beginning
Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was right when he said:

“Death: the last sleep? No, it's the final awakening. "
“Think how powerless death really is! Instead of getting rid of our health, it introduces us to "eternal riches". In return for poor health, death gives us the right to the tree of life which is for "the healing of the nations" (Revelation 22: 2). Death could temporarily remove our friends from us, but only to let us know that land where there are no goodbyes. " - Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer
“It depends on it, your dying hour will be the best hour you have ever known! Your last moment will be your richest moment, the best of the day of your birth will be the day of your death. " - Charles H. Spurgeon.
In The Last Battle, CS Lewis provides this description of paradise:

“But for them it was only the beginning of the true story. All their lives in this world ... it had been only the cover and the title page: now they were finally starting Chapter One of the Great History that nobody on earth has read: which continues indefinitely: in which each chapter is better than the previous one. "
"For the Christian, death is not the end of the adventure but a door from a world in which dreams and adventures shrink, to a world in which dreams and adventures expand forever". –Randy Alcorn, Paradise.
"At any time in eternity, we can say 'this is only the beginning.' "–Anonymous
No more death, pain, tears or pain
Perhaps one of the most exciting promises for believers to look to heaven is described in Revelation 21: 3-4:

I heard a loud cry from the throne, which said: “Look, the house of God is now in the midst of his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. It will wipe away every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death, pain, tears or pain. All these things are gone forever. "
