What does God want from us? Do the little things well… what does that mean?

Translation of the post published on Catholic Daily Reflections

What are the "little chores" of life? Most likely, if you asked this question to many different people from all walks of life, you would have many different answers. But if we consider the context of this statement by Jesus, then it is clear that one of the small primary issues he speaks of is our use of money.

Many people live as if the attainment of wealth was of the utmost importance. There are many who dream of becoming rich. Some play the lottery regularly in the unlikely hope of winning big. Others devote themselves to hard work in their careers so they can advance, make more money, and become happier as they get richer. And others regularly daydream about what they would do if they were rich. But from God's point of view, theMaterial wealth is a very small and unimportant matter. Money is useful as it is one of the ordinary means by which we provide for ourselves and our families. But it really matters little when it comes to the divine perspective.

That said, you need to use your money appropriately. We need to see money only as a means of fulfilling God's perfect will. When we work to free ourselves from excessive desires and dreams of wealth, and when we use what we have in accordance with God's will, then this act on our part will open the door to our Lord to entrust us much more. What is that "much more?" They are the spiritual matters that concern our eternal salvation and the salvation of others. God wants to entrust you with the great responsibility of building his Kingdom on Earth. He wants to use you to share His saving message with others. But first he will wait for you to prove reliable in the little things, how to use your money well. And then, as you carry out His will in these less important ways, He will call you to greater works.

Reflect today on the fact that God wants great things from you. The goal of all our lives is to be used by God in amazing ways. If this is something you desire, then do every little act of your life with great care. Show many small acts of kindness. Try to be considerate of others. Put the needs of others before your own. And commit to using the money you have for God's glory and in accordance with His will. As you do these little things, you will begin to marvel at how God can begin to rely on you more and, through you, great things will happen that will have eternal effects in your life and the lives of others.

Please help me share this task by remaining faithful to Your holy will in every little way. As I try to serve you in the small things in life, I pray that you will be able to use me for even greater ones. My life is Yours, dear Lord. Use me as you want. Jesus I believe in You.
