What is that golden container that contains the Blessed Sacrament during Adoration?

A monstrance is an ornamental container used to hold and display the Blessed Sacrament while it is worshiped and venerated. The first monstrances date back to the Middle Ages, when the feast of Corpus Domini popularized the Eucharistic processions. The need arose for a decorative container to protect the Holy Eucharist from evil as priests and monks carried it through the crowd. The word monstrance literally means "a vase that exhibits"; comes from the same root as "demonstrate". The initial form of the monstrance was a closed ciborium (golden container), which was usually adorned with images depicting the Passion or other passages from the Gospels. Over time, the ciborium used in the procession was lengthened and included a clear section, called a lunette, containing a single Host. Today, monstrances have evolved to be highly ornamental, as with the “sunburst” design around the display glass at its center. “The monstrance has the purpose of highlighting and drawing attention to the king of kings, Jesus Christ, present in a real and substantial way under the guise of bread. This is the reason why a monstrance is typically gilded and decorated in a special way, in recognition of the divine mystery it contains and reveals ”.

Act of supplication to Jesus the Eucharist: Lord, I know there is no time to waste, the present is precious time in which I can receive all the graces I ask for. I know that the Eternal Father is now lovingly looking at me since he sees within me his beloved Son who loves so much. Please remove all my thoughts, revive my faith, enlarge my heart so that I can beg your graces. (expose the grace you wish to receive) Lord, since you have come into me to grant me the graces I ask of you and to satisfy my desires, now allow me to express my requests. I do not ask you for earthly goods, riches, honors, pleasures, but please grant me great pain for the offenses I have caused you and give me a great light that makes me know the vanity of this world and how much you deserve to be loved. Change this heart of mine, detach it from all earthly feelings, give me a heart that conforms to your holy will, that seeks nothing other than your greatest satisfaction and that aspires only to your holy love. "Create in me, O God, a pure heart" (Ps 1). My Jesus, I am not worthy of this great grace, but you are, since you have come to dwell in my soul; I ask you for your merits, those of your Most Holy Mother and for the love that unites you to the Eternal Father. Amen.
