Covid: on Valentine's Day the sign of peace returns in the Mass

The bishops in the episcopal council highlighted the importance of the peace sign that was interrupted last year to avoid covid contagion. During the celebration of the Holy Mass the passage of "peace" was completely obscured, since the sign of peace as the church teaches occurs with a handshake.

The bishop's council clarifies this point, the Holy text does not make explicit the gesture of the handshake, but the sign of peace can also take place in other ways. One could be turning around and looking the other in the eye, another could be a half bow to the neighbors, or even both the look accompanied by the bow.

The bishops argue that the right choice of contact is to look into each other's eyes instead of touching "elbow to elbow" as a normal greeting from the square. It seems that starting from February 14, Valentine's Day protector of love and remembers the holiday of lovers will resume there the "gesture of peace" in a different form but in any case with the usual meaning.
