From the Vatican: 90 years of radio together

On the 90th anniversary of the birth of Vatican radio we remember eight popes who spoke. A voice of peace and love that has accompanied our life since February 12, 1931 designed and built by Guglielmo Marconi by Pius IX. For the occasion of the ninetieth anniversary, the radio web page is also inaugurated. It is broadcast in 41 languages of the world, and during the first blockade of Covid-19 Pope Francis broadcast all the functions through radio and created a network to connect people isolated due to the lockdown. Luigi Maccali, a missionary who remained a prisoner between Niger and Mali was a radio was granted in prison where he could hear the Sunday Gospel every Saturday. Bergoglio adds: that communication is important, it must be Christian communication, not based on advertising and riches, but Vatican radio must reach all over the world, the whole world must be able to hear the Gospel and the word of God.

Pope Francis, Prayer for the World Communications Day 2018 Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Let us recognize the evil that creeps in
in a communication that does not create communion.
Enable us to remove the poison from our judgments.
Help us speak of others as brothers and sisters.
You are faithful and trustworthy;
make our words be seeds of good for the world:
where there is noise, let us practice listening;
where there is confusion, let us inspire harmony;
where there is ambiguity, let us bring clarity;
where there is exclusion, let us bring sharing;
where there is sensationalism, let us use sobriety;
where there is superficiality, let us ask real questions;
where there is prejudice, let us arouse trust;
where there is aggression, let us show respect;
where there is falsehood, let us bring truth. Amen.
