Devotion to Jesus condemned to ask for a grace

JESUS CONDEMNED

1. Crucify him! As soon as Jesus appeared on the loggia, a dull noise was heard that soon burst into a single cry: Crucify him! At the place of the condemnation you were also, o sinner, you too shouted: Jesus crucified ... Provided he can avenge me, provided he vents me, what do I care about Jesus? Crucify him! ... Here are your noble feats!

2. Cruel injustice. Pilate opposed the condemnation saying that he found no reason to condemn him; but when the people threatened him with the emperor's enmity, that is, with the loss of office, he took the pen and wrote; Jesus on the cross! Unjust and cruel judge! ... Even today, the fear of losing a little wealth, a false honor, a job, to how many injustices opens the way!

3. Jesus accepts the sentence. What does Jesus say and do, to justify himself, to exempt himself from the death sentence? He was innocent and it was God; he could use lawful and easy means to Him to reveal his innocence! Instead he is silent; he accepts the sentence submissively and does not want to take revenge! When you are slandered or treated with injustice, with partiality, with ingratitude, remember that Jesus was silent and suffering for the love of God, and to give you a splendid example of forgiveness.

PRACTICE. - Be silent in offenses, unless superior reasons compel you to defend yourself.

Jesus Crucified our victim

Prostrate at your feet, O Crucified Jesus, I adore the bloody signs of your martyrdom, a mysterious proof of your love for men. You, the beginning of creation and the new Adam, came in man's time to drink the cup of the Father's will, You, the new Isaac, climbed the mountain of sacrifice and you did not find substitutive victims because the world did not have a lamb innocent if not You, had no fire from heaven except what You brought, had no obedience as servant except yours, not priests outside the law and guilt if not You, had no altar except for the cross, awaited an Easter

and it was yours. We have seen these signs of salvation after making them a reason for repulsion and condemnation. O Crucified Jesus, our victim, tears off the veil of our senses and revealed in that glory that You left to cancel yourselves on this cross; and we from here, in the company of your sorrowful Mother, await the moment of your resurrection to admit us to enjoy with you your triumph over death. Amen.
