Devotion to Jesus: the powerful prayer before the Crucifix

Lord Jesus crucified, allow me to stay here, in front of you. I rarely see you as I do right now. You have always waited for me here, to tell me how much you love me and how precious I am to you. With your open arms it seems that you want to reach all men, as in a universal embrace. I feel that I am in this embrace too. It gives me security because it is full of love. It is a free, pure, total hug that makes me overcome fear for my bad things, for my impurities, for all my sins. Contemplating you, nailed to the cross, I feel that the narrow spaces of my heart are widening, which make me feel prisoner of myself. For the mystery of your cross, give me, to all men and women of the world, especially to young people, a supplement of inner freedom. Take us by the hand out of ourselves, beyond the threshold of our fear, towards you and your brothers; and cause that which we are not capable of being the gift of the wealth of your infinite love. Amen
