Devotion to Mary: 5 August birthday of the Madonna

Medjugorje: 5 August is the birthday of the Heavenly Mother!

On August 1, 1984, Our Lady asked, in preparation, for a "triduum" of prayer and fasting, on August 5, the date of her birthday
The Madonna from 7 January 1983 and until 10 April 1985 told her life in Vicka. The seer, at the precise request of the Madonna, transcribed the entire story filling three full-bodied notebooks in view of the publication that will take place when the Madonna authorizes it and under the responsibility of a priest that the seer has already chosen.

So far nothing is known about this story. Our Lady allowed only her birthday to be made known: August 5.

This happened in 1984, on the occasion of the two thousandth anniversary of his birth, granted extraordinary and countless graces. On August 1, 1984, Our Lady asked in preparation for a triduum of prayer and fasting: “On August 5, the second millennium of my birth will be celebrated. For that day God allows me to give you special graces and to give the world a special blessing. I ask you to prepare intensely with three days to devote exclusively to me. In those days you don't work. Take your rosary crown and pray. Fast on bread and water. During all these centuries I have dedicated myself completely to you: is it too much if I now ask you to dedicate at least three days to me? "

So on 2, 3 and 4 August 1984, that is, in the three days before the celebration of the 2000th birthday of Our Lady, nobody worked in Medjugorje and everyone dedicated themselves to prayer, especially the rosary, and fasting. The visionaries said that in those days the Heavenly Mother appeared particularly joyful, repeating: “I am very happy! Keep going, keep going. Continue to pray and fast. Keep making me happy every day. " The numerous confessions were listened to continuously by seventy priests, and a large number of people converted. "Priests who hear confessions will have great joy that day." And in fact later on many priests will trust with enthusiasm that never in their life had they experienced so much joy in their hearts!

Here is an anecdote told by Marija about it: “Our Lady told us that August 5 is her birthday and we have decided to order a cake. It was 1984 and the Madonna was 2000 years old, so we thought of making a nice big cake. In the prayer group that was in the rectory we were 68, plus the group that was on the hill, in total we were a hundred. We decided to step down together to make this great cake. I don't know how we managed to carry it whole, right up to the hill of the cross! On the cake we put the candles and many sugar roses. Our Lady then appeared and we sang "happy birthday to you". Then Ivan finally came spontaneously to offer the Madonna a sugar rose. She took it, accepted our wishes and prayed over us. We were in seventh heaven. We were however perplexed by that sugar rose and the next day at five in the morning we went up the hill to look for the rose, thinking that the Madonna had left it there, but we never found it again. So our joy was so great, because a sugar rose Our Lady brought her to heaven. Ivan was all proud because he had this idea.

We too, every year, can offer a gift to the Queen of Peace for her birthday.

Preparing to celebrate it with her with confession, even if we confessed recently, with daily Mass, with prayer and fasting. If we cannot fast we offer renunciations: alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, sweets ... surely there will be opportunities to give up something to offer to her.

So that on your birthday you can really repeat to us the words you said on the evening of that August 5, 1984: “Dear children! Today I am happy, so happy! I have never cried in pain in my life like tonight I cry for joy! Thank you!"

Finally, many ask themselves: If the birthday of the Madonna is August 5th, then why is it celebrated on September 8th? I say: let's celebrate it twice. Why do we have to complicate life? Of course we are called, together with the whole Church, to celebrate the nativity of Mary liturgically every September 8th, but in an affectionate way we want to take advantage of this gift that the Queen of Peace has given us in indicating the exact date of her birthday ".

Usually at birthday parties it is the birthday boy who receives the presents. Instead, here in Medjugorje, it is the birthday girl who on her birthday - and not only - gives gifts to the guests.

She too, however, asks each of us to give her a special gift: "Dear children, I wish all of you who have been to this source of thanks, or close to this source of thanks, to come and bring me a special gift, in paradise: your holiness "(message of 13 november 1986)
