Devotion to Mary Help of Christians

NOVENA TO MARIA ASSISTANT

suggested by San Giovanni Bosco

Recite for nine consecutive days:

3 Pater, Ave, Glory to the Blessed Sacrament with the ejaculatory:
May the Most Blessed and Most Divine Sacrament be praised and thanked at all times.

3 Hello or Queen ... with the ejaculatory:
Mary, help of Christians, pray for us.

When asked for some grace, Don Bosco used to answer:

"If you want to obtain graces from the Blessed Virgin make a novena" (MB IX, 289).

According to the saint, this novena should have been done possibly "in church, with living faith"

and it was always an act of fervent homage to the SS. Eucharist.

The moods for the novena to be effective are the following for Don Bosco:

1 ° To have no hope in the virtue of men: faith in God.

2 ° The question is totally supported by Jesus the Sacrament, source of grace, goodness and blessing.

Lean on the power of Mary who in this temple God wants to glorify above the earth.

3 ° But in any case, put the condition of "fiat voluntas tua" and if it is good for the soul of him for whom he prays.

CONDITIONS REQUIRED

1. Approach the sacraments of reconciliation and the Eucharist.
2. Give an offer or one's own personal work to support the works of apostolate,

preferably in favor of youth.
3. Revive faith in Jesus the Eucharist and devotion to Mary Help of Christians.

so that in every difficulty I too can experience that you really are
the relief of the poor, the defense of the persecuted, the health of the sick,
the consolation of the afflicted, the refuge of sinners
and perseverance of the righteous.

PRAYER TO MARY ASSISTANT

O Mary Help of Christians, we entrust ourselves again, totally, sincerely to you!

You who are a Powerful Virgin, remain close to each of us.

Repeat to Jesus, for us, the "They no longer have wine" that you said for the spouses of Cana,

so that Jesus can renew the miracle of salvation,

Repeat to Jesus: "They have no more wine!", "They have no health, they have no serenity, they have no hope!".

and from all the other calamities you know.

Bless, protect, defend, guard as your thing

the people who live and will live in it:

protect them from all misfortunes and injuries,

but above all grant them the most important grace to avoid sin.

Mary, Help of Christians, pray for those who live in this house

which is consecrated to you forever.

and approved by the Sacred Congregation of Rites on May 18, 1878.

But we beg you too, O great Mother of God.

Teach us to copy your virtues into us,

especially angelic modesty, profound humility and ardent charity.

May Mary Help of Christians, we are all gathered under your Mother's mantle.

Arrange that in temptations we immediately invoke you with confidence:

in short, make the thought of you so good, so lovable, so dear,

the memory of the love you bring to your devotees,

there is such comfort that it makes us victorious against the enemies of our soul,

in life and in death, so that we can come to crown you in the beautiful Paradise.
