Devotion to Mary who unties the knots: what is meant by the word "knots"?

ORIGIN OF DEVOTION

In 1986 Pope Francis, then a simple Jesuit priest, was in Germany for his doctoral thesis. During one of his many study trips to Ingolstadt, he saw in the church of Sankt Peter the image of the Virgin who unties the knots and instantly fell in love with her. He was so impressed that he brought some reproductions to Buenos Aires that he began to distribute to priests and faithful, meeting great response. After becoming auxiliary archbishop of Buenos Aires, Father Jorge Mario Bergoglio consolidated his cult, continuing to inaugurate chapels in his honor. Bergoglio always continued tirelessly in his work of spreading this devotion.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THE WORD "KNOTS"?

The word "knots" means all those problems that we bring very often over the years and that we don't know how to solve; all those sins that chain us and prevent us from welcoming God into our life and throwing ourselves into his arms as children: the knots of family quarrels, the incomprehension between parents and children, the lack of respect, violence; the knots of resentment between spouses, the lack of peace and joy in the family; distress knots; the knots of desperation of the spouses who separate, the knots of the dissolution of families; the pain caused by a child who takes drugs, who is sick, who has left the house or who has left God; the knots of alcoholism, our vices and the vices of those we love, the knots of wounds caused to others; the knots of rancor that torments us painfully, the knots of the feeling of guilt, of abortion, of incurable diseases, of depression, of unemployment, of fears, of loneliness ... knots of unbelief, of pride, of the sins of our lives.

«Everyone - explained the then Cardinal Bergoglio several times - has knots in the heart and we are going through difficulties. Our good Father, who distributes grace to all his children, wants us to trust her, that we entrust to her the knots of our evils, which prevent us from uniting ourselves with God, so that she will untie them and bring us closer to her son. Jesus. This is the meaning of the image ».

The Virgin Mary wants all this to stop. Today she comes to meet us, because we offer these knots and she will untie them one after the other.

Now let's get closer to you.

Contemplating you will discover that you are no longer alone. Before you, you will want to confide your anxieties, your knots ... and from that moment, everything can change. Which loving mother does not come to the aid of her distressed son when he calls her?

NOVENA TO "MARIA THAT DISSOLVES THE KNOTS"

How to pray the Novena:

The sign of the Cross is made first, then the act of contrition (the ACT OF PAIN prayer), then the Holy Rosary is started normally, then after the third mystery of the Rosary the meditation of the day of the Novena is read (for example the FIRST DAY, then the following day we read the SECOND DAY and so on for the other days ...), then continue the Rosary with the fourth and fifth Mystery, then at the end (after the Salve Regina, the Litanies Lauretane and the Pater , Hail and Glory for the Pope) ends the Rosary and the Novena with the Prayer to Mary that undoes the knots reported at the end of the Novena.

In addition, each day of the novena is appropriate:

1. Praise, bless and thank the Holy Trinity;

2. Always forgive and anyone;

3. Live personal, family and community prayer with commitment;

4. Perform works of charity;

5. Abandon oneself to the will of God.

By following these suggestions and daily committing yourself on a journey of conversion, which brings about a real change of life, you will see the wonders that God has in store for each of us, according to his times and his will.

Maria, who unties the knots, prays for me.

Mother of Jesus and our Mother, Mary Most Holy Mother of God; you know that our life is full of small and large knots. We feel suffocated, crushed, oppressed and helpless in solving our problems. After the Prayer to "Mary who unties the knots" you can say this supplication:

Begging Mary to untie the knots:

O Immaculate Virgin, Blessed Virgin, you are the universal dispenser of all the graces of God. You are the hope of every man and my hope. I always and always thank my beloved Lord Jesus who allowed me to know you, and made me understand how I can receive Divine Graces and be saved. You are this way yourself, Augusta Mother of God, because I know, thanks mainly to the Merits of Jesus Christ, and then to Your intercession that I can reach Eternal Salvation. O my Lady that you have been so solicitous to visit Elizabeth, to sanctify her, Please hurry to come and visit my soul. Better than me, you know how miserable it is and how many evils afflict it: unregulated affections, bad habits, sins committed and so many serious diseases that can only lead to eternal death. It is up to you alone to heal my soul from all its infirmities and undo all the "knots" that afflict it. Pray for me, O Virgin Mary, and recommend me to Your Divine Son. Better than me You know my miseries and my needs. O my Mother and sweet Queen pray for Me your Divine Son and obtain for me to receive the Graces which are most necessary and essential for my Eternal Salvation. I surrender myself completely to You. Your prayers have never been rejected by Him: they are the prayers of a Mother to her Son; and this Son loves you so much, that He does all that You desire in order to increase Your Glory and to witness the great love He feels for You.

O Maria, answer my prayers.

Remember, O sweetest Virgin Mary, that we have never heard that none of those who asked for your protection, implored your help and asked for your intercession have been abandoned by you. Animated by such trust, O Virgin among the Virgins, O my Mother, I come to you, and while I suffer under the weight of my sins, I bow down to your feet. O Mother of the Word, do not refuse my prayers, but listen to them favorably and answer them. Amen. (San Bernardo)

(Imprimatur Archbishopric- Paris- 9.4.2001)

During the novena it is advisable to approach the sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) to ask God for forgiveness of one's sins, to participate in the daily Mass (whenever possible) and to receive the Holy Eucharist, the source and summit of all Christian life.
