ORIGIN OF DEVOTION
In 1986 Pope Francis, then a simple Jesuit priest, was in Germany for his doctoral thesis. During one of his many study trips to Ingolstadt, he saw in the church of Sankt Peter the image of the Virgin who unties the knots and instantly fell in love with her. He was so impressed that he brought some reproductions to Buenos Aires that he began to distribute to priests and faithful, meeting great response. After becoming auxiliary archbishop of Buenos Aires, Father Jorge Mario Bergoglio consolidated his cult, continuing to inaugurate chapels in his honor. Bergoglio always continued tirelessly in his work of spreading this devotion.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THE WORD "KNOTS"?
The word "knots" means all those problems that we bring very often over the years and that we don't know how to solve; all those sins that chain us and prevent us from welcoming God into our life and throwing ourselves into his arms as children: the knots of family quarrels, the incomprehension between parents and children, the lack of respect, violence; the knots of resentment between spouses, the lack of peace and joy in the family; distress knots; the knots of desperation of the spouses who separate, the knots of the dissolution of families; the pain caused by a child who takes drugs, who is sick, who has left the house or who has left God; the knots of alcoholism, our vices and the vices of those we love, the knots of wounds caused to others; the knots of rancor that torments us painfully, the knots of the feeling of guilt, of abortion, of incurable diseases, of depression, of unemployment, of fears, of loneliness ... knots of unbelief, of pride, of the sins of our lives.

NOVENA TO "MARIA THAT DISSOLVES THE KNOTS"
How to pray the Novena:
