Devotion to Mary Queen: August 22 feast of Our Lady Queen of Heaven

22 August

BLESSED VIRGIN MARY REGINA

PRAYER TO MARY QUEEN

O Mother of my God and my Lady Mary, I present myself to You who are the Queen of Heaven and earth as a poor wounded before a powerful Queen. From the high throne from which you sit, do not scorn, please turn your eyes to me, poor sinner. God made you so rich to help the poor and made you Mother of Mercy so that you can comfort the miserable. So look at me and feel sorry for me.

Look at me and do not leave me until after having transformed me from a sinner into a saint. I realize that I do not deserve anything, on the contrary, for my ingratitude I should be deprived of all the graces that through your means I have received from the Lord; but You who are the Queen of Mercy do not seek merits, but miseries to help the needy. Who is poorer and needy than me?

O sublime Virgin, I know that you, besides being the Queen of the universe, are also my Queen. I want to dedicate myself completely and in a particular way to your service, so that you can dispose of me as you like. Therefore I say to you with San Bonaventura: “O Madam, I want to entrust yourselves to your discreet power, so that You will support me and govern totally. Do not leave me". You guide me, my Queen, and don't leave me alone. Command me, use me at Your pleasure, chastise me when I do not obey You, since the punishments that will come to me from Your hands will be salutary to me.

I consider it more important to be your servant rather than lord of the whole earth. "I am yours: save me." O Maria, welcome me as yours and think about saving me. I don't want to be mine anymore, I give myself to You. If in the past I have served you badly and I have missed many good opportunities to honor you, in the future I want to join your most loyal and faithful servants. No, I don't want anyone from now on to surpass me in honoring you and in loving you, my lovable Queen. I promise and hope to persevere like this, with your help. Amen.

PIO XII PRAYER to MARIA REGINA

From the depths of this land of tears, where painful humanity painfully drags on; among the waves of this sea of ours perpetually agitated by the winds of the passions; Let us raise our eyes to you, O Mary, beloved Mother, to comfort us by contemplating your glory, and to greet you Queen and Lady of the heavens and of the earth, our Queen and Lady. We want to exalt this kingship with legitimate pride of children and recognize it as due to the highest excellence of your whole being, or very sweet and true Mother of Him, who is King by right, by inheritance, by conquest. Reign, O Mother and Lady, showing us the path of holiness, directing and assisting us, so that we never depart from it.

As in heaven above you exercise your primacy over the ranks of the Angels, who acclaim you their Sovereign; above the legions of the Saints, who delight in contemplating your shining beauty; thus you reign over the whole human race, above all by opening the paths of faith to those who do not yet know your Son. Reign over the Church, which professes and celebrates your sweet dominion and resorts to you as a safe haven in the midst of the calamities of our times. But especially reign over that portion of the Church, which is persecuted and oppressed, giving it the strength to endure adversity, the constancy not to bend under unjust pressure, the light not to fall into enemy snares, the firmness to resist blatant attacks, and at all times unshakeable loyalty to your Kingdom.

Reign over intelligence, so that they seek only the truth; on the will, so that they only follow the good; on hearts, so that they only love what you love yourself. Rule over individuals and families, as over societies and nations; on the assemblies of the powerful, on the advice of the wise, as on the simple aspirations of the humble. You reign in the streets and squares, in the cities and villages, in the valleys and in the mountains, in the air, in the land and in the sea; and welcome the pious prayer of those who know that yours is a kingdom of mercy, where every supplication is listened to, every pain comfort, every unfortunate relief, every infirmity health, and where, almost at the sign of your sweet hands, from the same death it rises smiling the life. Obtain that those who now acclaim you and recognize you Queen and Lady in all parts of the world may one day in heaven enjoy the fullness of your Kingdom, in the vision of your Son, who lives with the Father and the Holy Spirit and reigns over the centuries. So be it!

(His Holiness Pius PP. XII, 1 November 1954)

PRAYER to MARY QUEEN of all SAINTS

O Immaculate Queen of heaven and earth, I know that I am unworthy to approach you, I know that I am also unworthy to worship you prostrate with your forehead in the dust; but since I love you, I allow myself to beg you. I ardently desire to know you, to know you ever more deeply and without limits to love you with ardor without limits. I wish to make you known by other souls, so that they may be loved by them, ever more numerous; I wish you to become the Queen of all hearts, present and future and this as soon as possible! Some still don't know your Name; others, oppressed by sins, do not dare to raise their eyes to You; others think that You are not needed to reach the end of life; then there are those whom the devil - who did not want to recognize you as Queen - keeps subjects to himself and does not allow them to bend their knees before You. Many love you, they venerate you, but few are those who are ready for anything for your love: at every job, at every suffering, at the same sacrifice of life. That finally, O Queen of heaven and earth, You may reign in the hearts of each and every one. May all men recognize you for Mother, that all for you will feel children of God and love each other as brothers. Amen.

PRAYER to MARY QUEEN of Purgatory

Most Holy Virgin of Suffrage, You who are the consoler of the afflicted and the universal Mother of believers, turn your pitying gaze to the souls of Purgatory, who are also your daughters and more than any other deserving of pity because they are unable to help themselves in the middle to the unspeakable pains they suffer. Deh! dear our Coredemptrix, interpose before the throne of divine mercy all the power of your mediation, and offer to discount their debts the Life, Passion, Death of your divine Son, together with your merits and those of all the saints in heaven and of all the righteous of the earth, so that the divine justice may be fully satisfied, they come quickly to thank you in heaven and to possess and praise the divine Liberator forever with You. Amen
