Devotion to St. Maria Goretti: the prayer that will give you stability in life!

Santa Maria Goretti, your devotion to God and to Mary was so strong that you were able to offer your life rather than lose your virginal purity. Help all of us, beset by so many temptations in this modern world, to imitate your youthful example. Intercede for all of us, especially the young, so that God will give us the courage and strength we need, to avoid anything that could offend him or stain our souls. Obtain for us from our Lord the victory in temptation, the comfort in the pains of life and the grace we sincerely ask of you. May we one day enjoy the eternal glory of Heaven with you.

Santa Maria Goretti, you valued your purity above all things and died a martyr for it. Grant that I too can love this virtue. When I'm young and temptations are mostly physical, help me keep a pure mind and body. As I age, help me continue to keep my mind pure and clean and open to the suffering of others. As I grow older, remind me that purity is a lifelong virtue and I must always seek goodness in others.   

Teach me to always remain loyal to God, my neighbor and myself. When I forget, inspire me with your love shown for others. Mary, a virgin, was surprised by the appearance of the angel Gabriel, and even more surprised by the announcement that she was pregnant. However, she accepted the news with joy and committed herself totally to the service of God. In this way she became fully aware of the consequences that could affect her among her people.

You too, Maria Goretti, have realized the joy of receiving Jesus in your heart in the Holy Eucharist. You later learned that this brings with it the obligation to fully commit yourself to obeying his commandments, even if pain or death may result.
